Very bland veal. Expensive and tasteless. Potatoes badly cooked. All in all, I feel stolen and would be happier if I had gone to a McDonalds. Not to mention my wife's gnocchi was so small we had to go for another meal at the pub right after.

Eaten twice at Il Castelletto and will be back there for sure. Nice atmosphere, good food (very nice pastas. lovely zabaglione!), reasonable prices, friendly waiters.

Gave this place a second go back in feb largely as it was raining . Glad I did, had minestrone soup followed by one of the best spaghetti carbonaras I have eaten , this with wine was about £30 so considering where it is (next to the British Museum pretty much) isn't bad value . Good service as well . It is quite small so may get busy quickly but def worth it will go back.

Italian food....not for Italians!

My partner and I visited for lunch on a Saturday. There were about 4 other tables occupied, service was neither good nor bad but not particularly friendly. The restaurant itself looked ok but the décor could be reworked. All that can be overlooked if the food was something special. Unfortunately it was not good, Lasagne was like supermarket microwave meal. No layers of Pasta and hardly any meat, lots of cheese though. My partners pasta dish was also very mediocre and overcooked. However, I did hear some girls requesting the recipe for a sauce....I should have ordered that!

My wife and I stumbled on this restaurant after a trip to the theatre had 3 courses each starting with the tomato bruscetta; the toppping was delicious very fresh ingredients. For main my partner had a penne all'Amatriciana which she said was nice and the pasta seemed freshly made. I had a cod dish (cant remember the name) it was delicous very nicely cooked and again the vegetables were fresh. For dessert we had the Tiramisu and it was good one. House red was fine. Service was attentive, didnt have to wait too long, overall I thought it was a very decent meal for the price and would recommend and go again if in the area.

I recommend this restaurant.

Great food, great atmosphere and a great price. What more can you ask for?

Any quibbles? Well yes, but very minor. First of all it was very quiet. I know I don't like loud places, but this was like a library. It was mid-week however, so it might be more lively at other times. I'd need to go back to check. Second was that the service was a bit scatty. There were some long delays, but given the extent to which the owner was chasing the kitchen, I believe this was a blip on the day (he was very embarrassed and gave some complimentary drinks - we didn't chase him at all - this was spontaneous).

However, I'd go back just for the food regardless. Like I said - recommended.

Went to Il Castelletto after a trip to the British Museum and we ordered the The minestrone for starters (which was delicious) and Vitello alla Milanese and Pizza, the Vitello was lovely the Pizza not bad. The creme Brulee was very nice although my partner thought it was a little too sweet but having a sweet tooth it tasted fine by me! Wine was ok.

The service was very good, nice head waiter he was friendly, decent atmosphere for a small restaurant. If in the area I would go again.

Just had dinner at Il Castelletto. Enjoyed the Vitello alla Milanese. Wine was average. The head waiter was a grumpy with humor thrown in. Not a place for a special meal out but a lot more authentic than most of the borrowing Italian chains.
