Pâtisserie Deux Amis

A perfect neighborhood cafe, with wonderful coffee, cakes, sandwiches and soup. Our family spent a month in London in 1998, and every day's adventures ended with a stop here. We didn't get back to London until 2006, and were thrilled to find our favorite patisserie still delviering a quiet and tasty break from the nearby train station bustle.

Visited on the morning of the day of Le Tour de France. What a wondeful way to start the day. A little bit of sanity - not 10 mins from the hustle and bustle of King's Cross.
Wonderful large pot of tea with 3 tea bags and good, though not as brilliant as expected, cakes.
Lovely relaxed ambience with smashing staff. Will always visit when in town.

I lived very close to "Deux Amis" for about one year until June 2006. I used to go there almost everyday for a cup of white coffee or a sandwich. The chicken cranberry sandwich is absolutely delicious. During winter you can find very good soups served with a fresh butter baguette. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is really cosy and quiet. "Deux Amis" and all the hours I spent there chatting with my friends or reading a book, sipping a cup of coffee, will always be in my mind as the most pleasant moments of my London stay.

I have lived close to this little cafe/patisserie for some time but never stopped in, I have to say I almost regret I did. This place looks absolutely charming and it is, don't get me wrong the atmosphere is lovely. Somehow you feel that you have stepped from drab Kings Cross into a cafe in Provence. The pastries and bread are nice (though not as nice as they could be) and the staff are friendly enough but the big let down is the COFFEE, perhaps the worst I have ever tasted. Whoever trains their staff should visit someplace like Flat White in Soho, Ray's Cafe in Foyles bookstore or Le Pain Quotidien in Marylebone high street- coffee as it should be!
A shame really because this place could be great, sadly it is not.

It is a lovely place. I used to go there every day for a nice cup of coffee and a lovely apricot pastry. The atmosphere is friendly and service is excellent. Besides they make wonderful french-style baguettes with different fillings.Would like to pinpoint the fact that all the pastries and baguettes are freshly made on premises. My advise is to visit this unique place and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
