love this place..
great location, great service, nice atmosphere and lovely bottles (or half bottles) of wine..
can be a more mature/sophisticated audience but still gets some young 'uns in
highly recommend it!

On a lunchtime visit, this was a very pleasant venue with attentive staff and which filled up quickly at 1pm having been almost empty before then. I wasn't particularly inspired by the menu, but had a very pleasant Caribbean chicken dish while my wife had a burger which she said was very nice. So overall pleasant fare, plesant atmosphere but nothing sensational. I thought it was very expensive for a wine bar, with all main courses in the £12-15 range. We had two main courses, one pudding, one coffee and shared some fizzy water, and the bill for that was £45. Clearly there's no credit crunch for the lawyers nearby who made up most of the clientele when we were there.

Went for a leisurely lunch late on a Friday. The restaurant was busy - regular local trade.
This place is quite ramshackle and a has a threadbare charm, begining to fall the wrong side of scruffy and is a bit in need of a good scrub.
The waiting staff were fine - friendly, relaxed and reasonably competent in a daffy aunt kind of way.
The menu was seasonal and there were several tempting dishes - roast pheasant was good, though not outstanding. Mainly simple English food with a dash of the continent here and there.
The real plus point about this place is the wine: an excellent selection (mainly French) at very reasonable prices.
