Tapas Brindisa

I can't praise this place enough. Tapas in London can often be so formulaic with your tortilla, patatas bravas, garlic mushrooms etc etc. Tapas Brindisa, on the other hand, shows an inventiveness that comes from pairing quality produce with unusual combinations or just having the option to try something a bit different....their air cured tuna with sliced pear is a real treat, as is the molten, honeyed goats cheese. The wines cover a wide range of prices and are wonderful. Bar staff and waiting staff are attentive, whilst managing the hecticity of working in London's best tapas joint very well. All in all, I feel that if you are prepared to enjoy a few glasses of red either outside or at the bar whilst waiting for your table, you will not be disappointed.....

All I can say is Tapas Brindisa is a Delicious atmospheric restaurant with attentive and passionate staff who give sound honest advice on when there will be a table available and what's great on the menu (not difficult there as everything is!!!).. The wine list is fab and I wish I lived closer as I would frequent it on a VERY regular basis instead of when I am south of the river....

I absolutely adore this place. I have eaten there quite a few times now and every dish was superb. I did find it a little expensive first time round but to be honest that was probably our choice of wine. The food was definitley worth every penny. The staff have always been very friendly despite the volume of people they have to deal with. If anything they are a teeny bit over-attentive, but you can understand that it is after all a tapas bar and as such is supposed to turn tables quickly not have us ladies doing 3 hours lunches!

Your comments are totally wrong mate. I go to Tapas Brindisa all the time as (we all agree) it's the best Tapas in London. It's so good that Jonathan has to manage a lot of stroppy people who want a seat there and then, and at the businest times, and he manages that very well. At the busiest times he cannot be expected to be Mother Teresa, he has to be straight with people about how long it will take to get a table. As a regular i can assure you i get no favours, and expect none, regading table priority - and no favours are given. Jonathan has to manage a hugely popular and fab restaurant and as such he cannot accommodate everyone and he does not want to over promise on a 15 minute wait when it could be a lot longer. Cut him some slack, and the staff love him as do the owners and he commands their respect. Do what i do, turn up at midday and always get a table! I sometimes take clients and we spend loads, but i also sometimes go as my own/with a colleague 'staff canteen' and i cannot think of anywhere credible and quality in London where you can get a 45 minute quality lunch for an extremely fair price.

In my opinion, probably the best tapas in London and judging by the constant queue to get a table at Tapas Brindisa i share my opinion with a lot of people. The atmostphere is always buzzing. On our first visit we asked the Maitre d to order for us. His order was spot on and we have been regulars ever since. It's a shame to read not everyone has had the same enjoyable experience, although with a waiting time that can be over an hour it's not surprising customers and staff get frustrated. Our trick, just get there early and be prepared to wait, it's worth it afterall.

I have to agree with andyb - The Maitre'd is quite possibly the worst “host” in any restaurant I have frequented. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if there was a booking system. I often find when I visit that he automatically tries to put you off adding your name to the waiting list and is as far removed from welcoming as I know. On our most recent visit I know he deliberately seated two other tables that walked in off the street before us (and no, there names were not on the list because we were next in line.. as we had been observing it for the past hour and a half!) He also seems to suffer a degree of favouritism to certain guests making you feel even more unwelcome. It's a shame as I think the food is really good - I think some dishes are less successful than others so possible negative reviews regarding the food could be put down to poor selection. We haven't returned since, even though we live locally and love the food. All because poor service by one member of staff manages to overshadow this fantastic restaurant.

Very average food. Not the best tapas I've had by a long way! In fact some of the dishes were rather bland. The food is overpriced for what it actually was. We had to wait 1 hour (4pm on sat afternoon) for a table for 3 then we were squashed onto a table for 2.
Thankfully it was a mid afternoon snack and not a special occasion otherwise would have been horribly disapointed.
One to avoid.

I like this place and have been recommending it to all my friends and freinds that visit London from afar. Yes it is a bit pricey but tapas always is I think, and the food is delicious. The bar staff are knowledgable, efficient and friendly as are the waiting staff . I agree with other comments from patrons, the host is rude, and not in a Basil Fawlty or witty way, I get the impression he doesn't like people and that is a big minus when you are managing a busy London eaterie. I will go back because the plusses outweigh the minuses, I just wish the manager would smile more!.

6 people with a bill of over £300 on a tuesday night. My blood is still boiling at how rude the head waiter/manager/host (whoever he is - he's in the wrong job and industry) was to two guets who joined us late. In addition, at the end I asked for a coffee, only to be told bluntly by this awful individual that they were shut.
It doesn't matter how good your food is(here it is good, but very expensive for what it is) or how good your waiters are (here they were charming) - if you've got an individual in charge who treats guests like dirt you don't deserve to be in business or anyones hard earned money.
I will never set foot in the place again and I hope this review puts other people off going too.
