Great food!!! I'm normally too lazy to write reviews but we've had such consistently good quality food at the Samrat Tandoori every time we've visited, that I feel compelled to shout about the place a little. We're really glad we stumbled across it - what a find! The food is very fresh, very tasty, excellent value for money and there's a great selection of dishes. The portions are generous, the meat is succulent and tender, the fish is delicious. I feel I ought to also mention though, that we go there for the great food, not the great atmosphere ... there isn't much of one! The slight whiff of lemony cleaning products as you come in the door is a little weird but we soon forgot about that once we sat down and the staff are very friendly and attentive!

The owners son is a friend of mine, when given a piece of work to cover an asian restaurant i imediately went there. I did my work and was managed to test out the delicious food. I did the whole universitything and came back after 4yearsand still the food is brilliant. Being not a usual Tandoori diner it came as a big suprise as the food really managed to leave an outstanding impression. The service impeccable, the atmosphere warm and friendly. Now the food ... "Asian Soul Food" i would say. It definately hit home. The tandoori chicken reminiscent of the times my neighbour would cook for me. Great quality foods at great consumer prices. The poppadums again on form and the home made chutney sauces i believe scrumcious!...Definately the best Tandoori in Newham

go now!

I found this restaurant almost by accident, and I'm glad I did.

It looks inviting from the outside, and it doesn't disappoint when you get inside. It's very clean and well lit, staff are friendly and air conditioning contributes to a very relaxed atmosphere.

Make sure that you have some poppadoms to start, because their homemade chutneys are delicious.

The menu is varied, yet not so big as to be confusing, and the food is very tasty, and reasonably priced. watch out for the hotter curries - hot really means hot.

My wife and I have been going for many years and the food is consistently good - particularly the onion bajees and the sea bass. The only thing the restaurant lacks is a vibrant atmosphere - but that would be solved it were fuller or half the size (like it used to be).
