This place is UNBELIEVABLE.. friendly, cheap, quality traditional food, family-run atmosphere.
Ice cold Sagres on tap, Vinho Verde, Bolo de Arroz, huge MUGS of fresh coffee (big enough for 2 to share).
The place is just TOO good and costs a pittance. I wish they'd put their prices up as I worry they won't be around forever. Over-generous portions.
Great pics of funchal on the placemats as well. To be honest, the scabbard fish is better here than most restaurants in Funchal, Madeira, from where the owners are from.

Great place, very good food and for a very reasonable price. Never tried scabbard fish and not a big fish person but excellent as a main and would highly recommend. My partner's cod was good though not as excellent. Portuguese sausage very tasty appetizer. Good wine list - had house white which was nice and good value. All in all a nice family-run place with very authentic food and definitely worth a try.
