So true about the rudeness! I went on a weekday to eat lunch alone , when it was hardly crowded, but before I had sat down I was given VERY FIRM INSTRUCTIONS that I was not, on any account, to sit at a large table. The tone and the wording were so harsh that I wish I had walked out. I'll settle for anonymous Internet complaining.

The place is so good, chilled and the service is very good too. They have a nice selection of sweets and fresh juices. Food is excellent and they have a small cute terace for summer and fireplaces for winter

why all the moaning... Tupelo Honey may not be for everybody, the owner is trying to maintain a very well established atmosphere, the annoying tapping of people at their keyboards, sat in recluse in the corner is not what i would want my own establishment to portray. so all in all a great place to meet friends and some times make friends. Food not bad either.

Well I am glad I haven't tried to order any food at this place (nothing really suited my diet at a first glance and in previous visits the staff couldn't give much more information). I did, however, indirecly encounter the owner's well known rudeness. I was trying to have some tea while working on my laptop when I was told that "computers were not allowed, no internet, nothing". The member of staff who brought the news did so in the name of the owner. My laptop was not plugged in using the venue's energy or anything like that, nor was my intention to use the internet, precisely because I was trying to work without distractions. The place, compared with others cafes around was empty, Now I know why. No computers? What's next no books or writing paper? It wasn't all bad, I was told I could seat outside!

Don’t waste your money by dining here. You’ll be so disappointed; the food is ok, nothing special – certainly not worth the bother. The owner of Tupelo Honey is the rudest person that I’ve ever come across in a restaurant! I won’t go into detail, but my friends and I weren’t happy with the availability of food on the menu – most of the dishes had run out. The owner came to see us and had a real go at us for complaining, we we’re so shocked, I was expecting an apology not a telling off. My friends and I will never go here again!

What an absolutely appalling place.....I thought I had seen it all with the amount of money-milking gastro-twaddle that has submerged the vast majority of London's pubs. But to be charged 12 pounds for two coffees and two small pieces of laughably mediocre cakes was a new low. Service absolutely sloppy too....well done Tupelo Honey!!!!!!! Lets hope Van Morrison sues for the use of the name too on such a total dive.

Yeah, this place is really terrible -- I'm glad to see that this seems to be the consensus here. While it looks nice on the outside, the atmosphere inside is anything but warm and friendly; when we entered a member of staff, who I can only presume was the owner, was screaming at the workers behind the bar. To be honest, the food wasn't very good -- a pretty mediocre meat lasagna and the baguettes are egregiously overpriced and hardly better than anything you could pick up at Tescos . . . or Morrisons rather . . . and similarly stale and not very fresh. The service was slow, despite the fact that we were one of three parties. Oh, and the food is microwaved -- how's that for fresh?
I would not come here again -- a very tacky establishment with rude service, untrained staff, and blah food. The one thing I will say is that the coffee was good -- so if you are so inclined, order it take away and then scram!

I was about to hire this place for a private party as it has a nice room upstairs... but no chance now! Or ever! The owner is incredibly rude and pushy as I have never experienced! I recommend looking elsewhere!

I visited this place a while ago with a friend and was really dissapointed. We bought a sandwich which was so expensive it was absurd, and not very good. When we tried to give the owner some constructive criticism she couldn't take it. Sadly for her i've never gone back.
