Not been here for many months and hoped it had improved, but the food was not what we ordered and was mediocre. The wine was excellent if expensive.

The service was some of the worst I have experienced in a restaurant which was clearly not that busy on a Monday night.

Went with a friend and had a very good night despite the food and the service. Lack of personality from the staff, no enthusiasm in regards to the food they sell and lack of knoweldge which is poor, maybe is to do with the fact that service is not included...perhaps they should do more to earn that service.

Cocktails were great but overall is not the place i would go back....decor is fab but that's pretty much it.

I think it's fair to say that this is a restaurant you will want to visit despite the food. It's in a great location, the room is glamourous without being too "cool" and there is a nice buzz. The food is very varied in quality, from very good to fairly poor. I have even experienced both good and bad food on the same plate! The service can also vary, and at times they seem very understaffed. Despite all this I keep coming back, I'm just not sure why....

Great Location and nice bar. The restaurant is expensive. I have no problem with paying top dollar but I expect exceptional food in reciprocation. The food at the Bluebird restaurant I would rate at above average but some way short of good.

Had a shellfish cocktail; excellent quality fish but totally overpowering marie-rose sauce. Followed up with fillet steak, which was slightly overcooked for the medium rare I ordered and also surprisingly fatty to one side.

They do have a good cellar of wine and the prices are not quite as insultingly high as they have been in the past (and as in other Conran restraunts like Coq D'Argent).

The main problem was attracting one of the several sommeliers attention, who were charging about the place to little effect. We went on a weekday night when the restaurant was two-thirds full so it was not that busy.

If you are going to spend this sort of money (£260 including service and wine for 2 - wine £100), I would probably go elsewhere. The Cafe downstairs has a decent brasserie style menu and its nice to dine outside in the summer where they have a BBQ. Will return there but not to the restaurant.

The restaurant looks the part and the bar is good. Service was pretty good.

I was part of a largeish party (9) so between us we got through quite a good selection of the menu The food quality was very uneven. Some of it was very good

and some not very good at all.Example two of us had rib eye steak ( very good) and two of us fillet steak au poivre ( tiny portions).Sea bass was dreadful and cheese straight out of the fridge.

If I lived locally to Bluebird I might go back but since I'm in another part of London albeit not that far away I would'nt.

Is this is a destination restauarant ? Sadly, no,.

Don't understand the poor reviews in the light of our recent visit on Good Friday. 8 of us couldn't get into the Big Easy so I suggested Bluebird. Two of our party both scoffed at this as they had read reviews on here and elsewhere saying it was bloody awful, fortunately I didn't listen and marched us in there.

Even though we had rolled up at 7.30pm without a booking it was no problem at all - very friendly staff showed us to a great table without any of the usual fuss you often encounter when turning up at a busy time unannounced. Great selection of bread kept coming (with no cover charge) and they were very patient with our order. Excellent value set menu (15 quid for 2 courses) and a good childrens menu as well. Good uncomplicated brasserie style food so we all had a lovely meal - no complaints from anyone and that included the children.

I don't doubt that they may have off days as that is the nature of the beast, but this certainly wasn't one of them.

Visited the Bluebird last Saturday night (11/4/09) on the recommendation of my brother who has been before. I was a bit concerned because the reviews were at best a mixed bunch, but went anyway as the location was good - I was in this part of town. Well what a pleasant experience. The building and setting are fantastic and so was every aspect of my visit. I booked on-line, flawless and I got an SMS confirmation. The hospitality and service were top notch as was the food. I had Coley and my partner had Salmon, both of which were imaginatively presented and very tasty. They do a set menu, which is great value at £18.50 for three courses, and a la carte. All topped off very nicely with some dry white wine.

So my experience was very good, I would recommend it and I will be returning.

I cannot believe some people have given this place 9 out of 10?! Perhaps when these people went there they had a completely different set of staff and a different menu and a different chef? When I went for my lunch, the food and service were both a disaster, so much so that one of the waitresses had to apologise to us. The restaurant has a prime location and the decor is great, but a restaurant is in the business of serving good food and having satisfied customers which this place certainly did not deliver upon. What a shame, this place has a lot of potential, they need a new chef and new staff to turn things around. Maybe a visit from Ramsay's kitchen nightmares? The lady who seated us was good, but the manageress and waitresses were rude and incompetent respectively. All 4 of my party said that they would write a damning review of the place, I think the others just put the experience behind them but I felt that the management might want to know how bad things are at this once great place. I did complain to the manageress about the standards but she didn't care and just wanted to get rid of us.

What a disappointment. I left this restaurant thinking that I must let other people know how bad it is so that they can save their time and money. I am not the world's greatest cook but I could have prepared a better lunch at home. Salad was flat and poorly put together, the fish pie was full of water as if it has been defrosted. I wish I had picked up a salad and pie from the supermarket, they are so much more superior than the ones served at this place. The waitress was incompetent and the manageress was rude and aggressive. I had thought I would give this place another chance given it was a Conran restaurant but I learned by lesson once and for all. The cafe downstairs is far superior. Skip the bluebird restaurant, don't sit with your friends/family being ignored and eating bad food. There are restaurants which are worth the money you pay, such as Nobu, Hakassan, Eight over Eight right near Bluebird, but this place is a disaster. Interior is nice, but when you pay so much money for a meal you expect to eat good food and be treated with some respect. Bluebird made me wish I had gone for a fast food meal. Yes, it was that depressing and bad! Pick any place but this one.

Not Quite Nigella

Not Quite Nigella

Saturday, October 04, 2008 - Like all things Conran, it looks spectacular. We’re confronted by a large white building (a converted 1930’s garage) in prime real estate position on Chelsea’s Kings Road and to the right there is a shop and to the left is a smaller cafe and upstairs is the restaurant. We expect to be directed to the smaller cafe but instead are shown upstairs to the huge restaurant with stunning flower arrangements and decor...
