This restaurant used to be my favourite Thai restaurant in London. Sadly, under new management, the quality of the food is less good, the prices are astronomical and the ambiance is not what it used to be. I doubt that I'll ever go back again.

I went to Patara yesterday and although I used to like this restaurant in the past I will not be going back any time soon.. First of all we had to wait for 15mins for our table being told "two more minutes" many times, waiters had no idea why they were there in the first place, food that we asked not to be spicy still arrived as much spicy as possible, so to add it all up it was a bad night for us and I don't recommend anyone to go there anymore..

Went to Patara after reading reviews here. Food and service were very disappointing. The staff was unknowledgable about the food, could not understand questions, and very pushy about getting drinks (asked as soon as we sat down and 3 times after). We both ordered Tom yum goong soup -- much too sweet, which was odd considered that we order the soup in every Thai restaurant that we have been to and never once had the soup been sweet (should be hot and sour, not sweet and hot). Curry was spiced well but too salty. Fish main dish was bland and too salty as well.

Needless to say, we left the restaurant very disappointed. Would not go back again. Service needs to be trained better for sure.

I went to Patara, Fulham Road, on Friday night. The place was absolutely full. I had been there before twice (before the refurbishment that is).

I am afraid, these days the tables are by far too close together and you would expect to have more space for the prices they charge. You would expect some degree of exclusivity.

When I made the reservation, I was not made aware that, now, there was a smoking and a non-smoking section, and they never called me back to confirm that I had a reservation in first place. When you call to make a booking, you have to leave a message in an answering machine, and you would have hoped that someone would return your call. Nope, I had to call them (again) to find out whether we had a table or not.

In such small room it would make sense to make the whole place non-smoking (but then again I am biased). My partner and I are non-smokers and were sat in the smoking section (bad news!).

The acoustics in the restaurant were so bad that made it almost impossible to have a coherent conversation with anyone really.

The food itself was certainly very good (we had an excellent starter, a good main course but nothing special, and a bottle of wine) and I am glad I did not have one of their tempting desserts, they certainly looked delicious! However, as it was, the bill came up to GBP82, which we thought was a little too steep for a 2-course meal.

But there you go, one lives and learns. Would I go back there again? Not really. There are plenty of Thai restaurants that offer good food and service and are certainly better value for money. Sorry!

Still the best thai restaurant in London!! This place is extremly busy and often fully booked. So, I recomend to give them a call beofre you show up. It is quite small restaurant but it has very nice private dining room downstairs which they can take reservation for 6-10 people. Service is good, all staffs are very polite and professional. Highly recommended!!

We had a dinner here on Saturday night and service was excellent partly due to half empty restaurant. As always in Thai restaurants, food is served very quickly after ordering but the taste was very good combined with well balanced wine recommendation. I would recommend this place to any thai food seeker.

This is without a doubt the best Tai food I have ever had. The service was XLNT, very friendly and did not interupt our meal.
