Haweli is by far the best Indian restuarant I have ever been to. The service is fantastic, the food amazing and decor great. We go there at least 3 times a month, which always seems rewarded with complimentary beers! Definitely worth trying

We LOVE Haweli - the service is impeccable and attentive almost to the point of embarressment, the food is always amazing - particularly recommend the saag aloo - but everything we have tried has been amazing.
We are treated like old friends whenever we come into the restaurant (embarrasingly about once a week on average for the past 8 months!!) - and are often spoilt with complimentary wine, beer and shots after the meal.

I have recently moved to Balham and have tried a few indian restaurants in the area but this place has definitely come out top every time.
Their food is authentic, flavour not toned down and reminds me of proper indian food
I have recommended this place to everyone I know!

We are very fussy when it comes to Indian food - we have tried so many restaurants in the area and been dissapointed. We have eaten at the Haweli twice now (Since January) and are delighted to have found this gem. Each time has been very good, a vast choice of dishes superbly cooked and presented. The staff are lovely - very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Both visits have been on a Saturday evening and the restaurant has been very busy with a really nice atmosphere. The interior is nicely done, however I do agree with a previous reviewer about the exterior. I understand that the garish colour was initally chosen to draw attention and it is going to be re done in a more subtle shade (blue I think) in a couple of months time once the restaurant has established itself. One other thing - it is very reasonably priced !

Haweli closed down in November 06 and emerged transormed to reopen just before Christmas. My partner and I were alarmed to note however that this rather low key establishment has now styled itself into what from the outside looks like a cross between a fairground ride queue area and a 24 hour photo lab: Bright orange (Agfa orange, no terracotta or red fort here) steel railings surround the windswept forecourt, topped by forlorn looking gas burners and backlit lozenge signes.
Inside, a self consciously designer interior sits uncomfortably with the hovering waiters, their ususal comfortable corners taken up with backlit feature bubble pools and trompe l'oeil mirror alcoves.
Once inside we were treated with courtesy and ushered to a table. The rebrand was conspicuous with motif-stamped lozenge shaped plates. Popadums came promptly with relished in nicely presented trays - whisked away and replenished unexpectedly - that is until we got the bill later and found that they charged for relish - twice!
Starters - supposed marinated chicken was probably only marinated in ice, light fried potato cakes were more like doughnuts. Main courses, king prawn dishes, were not bad, well flavoured and nicely textured. Accompanying rice and bread adequate.
However reasonably priced, the overall impression one gets of Haweli of Claphem is a place that has tried desperately to upgrade itself to business class, but has turned up to the check-in wearing plastic sandles, polyester shirt and an embarrassed grin. Sorry sir, that's not possible.

We dined here on a sunday evening. The service was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. The ambience was modern and spacious. We ordered a chicken sag and lamb madras - both of which were excellent. We were also offered additional complimentary drinks - which was a bonus of course. Best curry house in the Balham / Clapham South area with out doubt - would not hesitate to recommend.
