One of my favourite restaurants in London and definitely my favourite Indian Restaurant. My friends and I come here all the time and it's a bit of a New Year's Eve tradition now too.

It's an old school style restaurant which I like. The food is incredible, I eat the Murg Paneer Masala (spl?) most times and my boyfriend is addicted to the Murg Kur Chan (spl?).

I really rate this place!

After walking up and down clapham high street i ended up in this place and would say never have i been to a restaurant where you have a of £16 per head and extra if you want breast of chicken. we ordered bombay potato and popodoms as a starter and was pushed into trying to order something else to which i said no. Then as no surprise to me the waiter still brought the dish he offered us. I sent it back and got what i asked for. Then when mine and my girlfriends main came out the chicken was the horrible strangly bits you would normally throw away. To top it off i could see the waiters looking over and laughing as if they had done something to my food as i did order a vindaloo to which he said its hot. I do know i felt like saying i have only been eating it for years.

I just could not wait to get out of this place and asked for the bill when it came to the table everything was scribbled so that i could not see what it said and the bill for two with one starter one main each one rice one naan one beer and a tap water £40 what a rip off please please please stay away!!!!

Went there with friends this week, restaurant was busy but still got a booth. Menu was not the usual re-hash of asian dishes, I chose a house special and was really impressed with the flavours and quality, chicken was tender and moist, had been properly tandooried first, real taste sensation, friends were all impressed. Draght beers were good quality, cold and fresh, staff were friendly and attentive, plan to go back there soon.

The Maharani is not a classic nor a modern restaurant, its..........?? The food is average, the service is less than average. I've eatern there a few times and every time I felt there was something missing. The better choice would be Indian Flavours, which is up near Clapham North tube station. Indian flavours is a much smaller place but you get everything, good food, good service and a good atmosphere. I hope my review is helpful.
