I was invited by my nephew to a surprise Sunday treat last weekend. a family type restaurant on a very off the beaten track street in Clapham, I was treated to the best Sunday lunch I've ever had, we all like to think mom does it best, sadly my old ma past a couple of years ago, however it would have broke my heart to tell her about my new fave Sunday roast joint (sorry.)

I had the most super duck liver pate served with an even more scrummy chutney, my nephew went with the soup, both very simple and uncomplicated, but absolutely sublime, as a life long beef man I stayed true to the cause, I was not disappointed, two thick slabs of sirloin cooked to beyond perfection, crisp proper roast potatoes, a huge yorkie and a superb selection of well cooked veggies and of course where would we be without yummy gravy? my nephew, who used to be a waiter at the savoy and still loves his grub, is trying to get back into eating meat opted for the chicken which was JUST cooked, still moist and full of flavour, my only complaint was; we got there early and the waiting staff seemed to be taken by surprise although the place was half full, we'd had our main courses five minutes and I had to ask for horseradish and mustard, also I would have loved the chance to attack a trifle or something with custard,

All in all, well done NEWTONS, keep it up I will be back with food loving friends.
