After reading many excellent reviews about this restaurant, me and my group of friends decided to go to this place. However, as we entered the restaurant, we were not allowed in. This was because of a 'fully-booked' restaurant, even though the top floor was COMPLETELY empty. Me and my friends were astonished at this, and eventually argued to get a table for six.

The service was rude, which I didnt expect from a restaurant of this 'calibre'. The food was of a good standard, but we were expecting much better. The atmosphere was completely dead due to the empty restaurant, and we felt out of place as they kept on staring at us.

I ate Thanksgiving dinner here with frive friends after reading positive reviews online. The worst Thanksgiving dinner I have ever had, and probably the most expensive. Stuffing was in-edible, turkey tasted like they added MSG, and they did not have the pumpkin pie listed on the menu.

And the service was pretty abysmal as well.

This restaurant has now changed to a very sensibly priced, well presented food restaurant.

The steaks are wonderful as also is the asparagus with crusty egg!

There is a lot of thought put into the menu and service is also spot on.

Wine list is plentiful and well stocked and the position is good, opposite Aldgate Underground station.

I recommend this restaurant but it is usually very busy at lunchtimes in view of the position with the city.

Avoid a table close to the door in view of drafts and the noise from the road.

We visited on a Friday evening, apart from one other couple who had finished eating we were the only ones there.

Still, the restaurant was lovely, clean and the food was very nice. The fact that it is in the City is probably why it was so quiet in the evening.

We payed £31 each for a starter and main, that included the service charge and cover charge which were added on.

the client I took to this restaurant loves his steaks which is why I chose this venue. He said it was the best steak he had ever eaten - praise indeed

I booked the Missouri after reading the reviews on here for myself and the missus for her birthday. We went along for our 7pm booking to find the place practically deserted, but not for long as a large party and a couple of couples soon arrived! The restaraunt itself is very nice with neutral colours dominating and simple elegant christmas decorations strewn around. Now onto the food... I ordered the ham and oyster starter which i found to be delicious. Not usually being a person who takes starters i was very impressed as it was a perfect appetiser for my much-looked-forward-to steak. I ordered a bottle of Rioja which i must say was absolute quality. I ordered the Prime New York strip steak (10 oz.) french fries, béarnaise sauce which was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. My other half had the Peppered New York strip (10oz) garlic mash & bordelaise sauce which she said was great but not too impressed with the potatoes (i tried them and they were fine though!). Now i am definetly NOT a dessert fan but after reading about it i just had to order the chocolate souffle and oh my god was it amazing!!!! Please if you go there save space for it! Overall The Missouri offered excellent service, wine and food and not too pricey.

Missuori is a lovely restaurant, although I do wonder how long they will remain open; each time I go by the place is practically empty!

I've been there twice and EVERYTHING is top notch, especially the raisin and walnut bread. the "ground beef sandwich" (i.e. burger!) was delish, the crab cake is 2nd to none, and the steaks are well worth the wait. My only criticism is that there's the 12% service charge on the meal (which to me ALWAYS makes an arrogant assumption) and there's another 1% charge (I could presume for walking thru the door!)

Excellent clam chowder and the steaks were superb. What really let the place down was the service. Got there at five to one and didn't get our mains until ten past two. The manager came over and explained that our meals had been held up because there was a party downstairs! Don't take my booking if you don't have the capacity.

Missouri was a blissful relief on a hot sultry night, as we arrived after a fruitless search for a pub (Aldgate Colonies, found on www.london-drinking.co.uk - forget it, it doesn't exist!). We were early for our booking, but they didn't miss a beat and settled us straight down. I tried Mahi Mahi for my main course, the others all going for different versions of steak. Mine was great and theirs looked pretty good too - I almost regretted my choice...almost! None of us could resist the desserts on offer either (sunken chocolate souffle with raspberries and mocha ice cream...yum!). All in all, lovely service, fabulous food and we've definitely earmarked this one for a return visit.
