My partner and I had the misfortune to eat hear last Friday. We made the mistake of being attracted by a sign outside saying Rump Steak and Chips at £11.20. We wanted a quick pre-theatre meal so went in.

We had the meal eventually after waiting some time. It was terrible. We both had to cut off at least a third of the steak to get rid of the gristle. We were not asked if everything was OK and had to attract a waitress to ask for the bill as we decided not to risk a pudding or a coffee.

When we got the bill it was for £13.60 each. On querying this we were informed the meal we had was from the menu and not that as advertised outside and that one would be smaller.

This had not been made clear at the time of ordering. To make matters worse there was a fixed service charge of 10%. Although unhappy with this con, and due to our time retraints, and language difficulty with the waitress; we paid and left in disgust, vowing not to go near one of these steakhouses again.

I felt obliged to warn others of this con and suggest they avoid this chain like the plague.

I visited the Scotch Steak House in the Strand yesterday evening, and noticed a 10% service charge would be added to the bill. This is a joke because the service was non existent. We waited over half an hour for our order to be taken. I had a steak and the knife was so blunt it was almost impossible to cut. Nobody came to enquire if everything was okay with our meals. My husband wanted a dessert and coffee, but we decided to just get the bill and get out of there.

Went for a steak after a hard day walking around the sites of london. The place was steaming hot and empty apart from myself and friend. There were fans on but did nothing to cool us off.

The first shock came when I was told that the steak didn't come with anything at £14.00 chips etc would be a side order extra! I went with the flow, had the extras and asked for garlic sauce. Out came the steak and out came the small bowl of chips. Out came the garlic sauce... but behold.. what was this? A tiny bowl with two pats of garlic butter no bigger than a five ml spoon. Where was my garlic sauce? Oh this was my garlic sauce for £2.95 - i can't believe it.. my eyesight is 20 20 vision but this small pat of butter cannot be anything other than butter not a sauce. I got that taken off the bill after the waitress asked for permission to do so from her boss.

Bread that we didn't ask for was charged at a £1 each person - like or lump it you will be charged. The bill was a staggering amount with not much change from £50 for two steaks two bowls of chips and a glass of tap water. The "side salade" with the steak comprised of a lettuce leaf. There are no other dressings other than what you purchase as extras. Never again.

Having just been to the O2 arena to see an exhibition, a friend and I traveled to leicester square as we wanted to see some of London. Being both hungry, we found the Aberdeen Steak House, so decided to go in.

I should have realised, given the place was empty at 12:30 ish that this was not the best call I had ever made in my life, but went in anyway. We were sat at a table and presented menus (and at this point i kick myself for not reading the small print). Then some very poor quality rolls were brought out along with our table water.

My friend and I ordered some steaks, and we were asked if we wanted any side orders with them (i.e. chips). At that point my alarm bells rang... How much for just a Steak?...Anyways, we both ordered fries, and I ordered a pepper sauce and my friend a garlic sauce.

We waited a while and the food was brought to us, and much to mine, and my friends dismay, the garlic sauce was no more that 2 knobs of garlic butter in a dish, which u could buy from tescos for 10p. I was horrified. The steaks themselves were okay, but i still would not say they were worth the price. When it came to pay, the waitress made me feel very uncomfortable asking me if I wanted to tip on my card. No I said, paid, got my receipt and didn't tip on the table either.

It's fair to say, that whilst the steak was good, for the price and the service level receieved, i will never, ever go into another one of these places again. Steer clear, unless you are so rich, you dont care about service and value for money.

I went to the restaurant next to Oxford circus tube station after missing the hotel breakfast and being absolutely starving. We chose this over the pub next door BIG MISTAKE!!! It was disgusting the rolls (rolls not toast?!) were actually stale with mould clearly visible. My egg white was still raw and my partners yolk was over done and the beans which arrived five minutes after our breakfast in a sauce pot ! Also contrary to the poster there was only one sausage surely false advertising but plenty of mushrooms which is obivously a cheap filler which all in all says it all about this rubbish restaurant all flash and no substance. Oh I almost forgot you would think that by 10 o'clock in the morning delieveries would have been carried out and we wouldn't be subject to delievery men humphing boxes after boxes passed us while the staff swear at each other in a foreign language. I have genuinly never been so disgusted and the bill is the best bit it came to over £20 this was a very expensive mistake. Never I repeat NEVER go here.

Here's the letter I have sent to the Angus Steakhouse after eating in their Leicester Square branch:

I am sorry to say that our overall experience was not a pleasant one from food to staff and service.

Upon entering the restaurant and it not being busy at the time, we were escorted to a table for two located near the bar. The area was some what cramped and we had bags with us so we politely asked if it would be possible to be moved to a booth seat. We were directed to a table behind the till and on the edge of the bar.

After we ordered and sat waiting with our drinks, there were 3 staff members not working, but crowding round the till area talking and a couple of young waiters behind the bar leaning over and talking right behind my friends head. We were totally blocked in by staff who never even cracked a smile to say the least. It is also not the most pleasant experience seeing the bread rolls brought out of a plastic draw at the bottom of the till and placed on our table. As the menu stated the bread roll was £1 which was included in the service charge, it would have been nice to be offered the option of having it and in which case we would have declined as from the draw, the freshness was questionable. We decided to not eat it.

When a seemingly a senior manager arrived behind the bar, he resumed the position behind my friends head talking to other staff about the football and making an extremely annoying tapping with his pen on the bar. At one point he put his folder on the bar and just missed clipping my friends head with it! By this time there was at least 6 staff members floating about next to our table, turning round to stare frequently.

When our dinner finally arrived ( 2 portions of BBQ ribs and chips) we knew something had to be wrong before even touching it. The meat was pink and fatty with only a small amount of sauce smeared on the top and even the chips were as white as a sheet. The ribs had clearly been put in a microwave and after 2 bites, the mix of cold and luke warm meat indicated that they hadn't even been cooked in there long enough.

Obviously we had to send the food back and to her credit, one of the girls mumbled a sorry. While we waited for our order to be brought back, again several staff members were standing round the till asking what had gone on and why we had sent it back. Considering we were so close we were practically standing round the till with them, we felt this was again unprofessional.

A few minutes later our food came back, this time with the sauce on top slightly burnt so some attempted to heat it without the use of a microwave had been made. It was just hot enough to eat but the quality of meat was a rough ratio of 80% fat to 20% meat. When the waiter came back for our plates, and where the food had been barley touched, even though by this time we were starving, he just said 'didn't you like it?".

We just asked for the bill and wanted to leave as soon as possible. In 40 minutes, a table change ending up in us being surrounded by all the restaurant staff, and our food being cold. Not only did we waste nearly an hour in the Angus steakhouse, but also wasted over £40 in the process.

I have never before experienced such bad service or food. Our experience of the Angus Steakhouse makes a trip to McDonalds seem like gourmet food in a Michelin star restaurant. Considering the size of your chain, I really would have expected much more and your waiters and waitresses need a crash course in customer service. Its sad to say but these people clearly didn't care much for their jobs so why would the care about a paying customer.

I went to this restaurant after a heavy day with my girlfriend, expecting some delicious food to cheer us up. Unfortunately, we were tricked by the fancy appearance of it.

The staff were generally rude when we were escorted to our table and asked us what drinks do we want even before we had a glance of the menu. We ordered a starter which was cold, same as the bread. Our main course was their steak, which was supposed to be very famous. However, the steak was hardly warm and extremely difficult to chew. We said we want 'medium rare', and they gave us something like fully done. We were so furious and we left swiftly, but we were shocked at the price.

NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!! none of its branches derserve a single penny of your money!

We'd never been to an Angus steak house before so for once we thought we'd try it. NEVER AGAIN, the service was fine, the waiter polite, with the price, I chose the new year steak which comes with a rasher of bacon and a fried egg, and I was expecting a specially tender steak, but though it was cooked as I asked it( rare) , it was like eating old rope. Not tender at all, I've have better steaks for half the price in the Harvester chain!!! And then to find the chips were aditional in price, a total rip off, add to that the table cover charge and the bread they supplied was like chewing gum. My wife had lamb shank which was swimming in grease, the best features of the meal were my wife's mashed potato and the fried egg. As I said totally overpriced for the decidedly average meal served.

Least I've been to one now but never again.

Had dinner here Tuesday evening. Was looking forward to it as in the past have had really good meals at Angus steak house. Tuesday, however, a completely different story. After a very long wait the food arrived. The scampi was very greasy, chips were of a very bad standard (Mc Donalds are better), no extra's like salad, the advertised tartar sauce was left out until asked for. My mother had chicken kiev, the chicken not bad but they must have run out of chips as the ones served looked like they had been cut by the cook himself, some overdone with blackened edges and very greasy.

Won't be going here again in a hurry, especially when you consider the price for the badly cooked and badly presented food.
