True, the semi underground feeling is kind of cosy, art work hanging on the walls like fresh air and could even feel like an old European tavern at some points.

Just change the bar people. They not only bark and look like suddenly could shut the doors, kill everybody there and steal their organs - not many kidneys, probably many alcoholics around-. They also try to collect your glass when it´s still half full!

A pitty, could be a great place. There´s also a piano.

If I was the manager I would kick the waiters out and start with live music jazzy nights. The place would be amazing.

Freuds isn't about eating, so it shouldn't really be on this site.

It's about going out in Central London for proper (as in, well-mixed, decently alcoholic) cocktails and not getting financially raped in the process.

If you're sick of bland, me-too, stainless-steel-and-glass bars that serve watered down over-priced drinks (over half of London's establishments, basically), then give Freud's a go. You might not always get a seat, but you will have a good time - and get properly pissed. Cheers!

I've been to this bar a few times (reluctantly after the first, doesn't happen any more) and we could never get over the unbelievably rank attitude of the staff. They all look like they slept under a piece of cardboard in a bus shelter the night before so I'm not sure where they get their egos from, but basically the rule is this: tip them every time you go to the bar (as in leave ALL your change on the plate, kow-towing gratefully as you back away with your drink) or be subject to snide pathetic comments on your cheapness as well as generally sullen crap "service" for the rest of the night. Shame as it's quite characterful otherwise, if you like unpretentious grungy bars.. and some people tend to tip at the end of the evening anyway.
