La Boheme

Everything here was distinctly average. The service was pleasant enough, just a long way from what you might call polished. The food was a little disappointing and, although it was 8pm on a Saturday in Covent Garden, the place was empty and so lacked any atmosphere. One particular gripe was that despite service being included in the bill the chip-and-pin machine was handed to me with the request to enter an additional gratuity.

I visited this place about 4 years ago and had good memories of it, but this recent visit will be my last.

Blimey looking at the previous comments I must have been very lucky I recieved excellent food the service was good if a little scatty if Im honest I think on first impressions it was very good

I went to this restaurant with some friends after a visit to the theatre. Not all the dishes listed on the menu were available, though. I had prawns in garlic for my main course and it was revolting. There were four prawns on the plate, swimming in a kind of buttery sauce, which I did not enjoy at all. The fillet steak I had for the main course was lovely but the so-called 'French fries' which accompanied it were nothing of the kind - they were potato pieces, still with their skins on, which were definitely not fried. Understandably, we decided not to go for any pudding. It was telling that we arrived there just after 10pm, when the place should have been buzzing, and there were more members of staff there than customers - judging by the food, it was easy to see why. Definitely one of my worst eating experiences in London. I won't be going back.

I went there for the pre-theatre set menu. It is true that the menu is not typically French, at least in the way it is presented on the menu. By this I mean that for instance 'tomates bocconcinni' were described on the menu as 'tomatoes and mozzarella'; the point is, if you are French, as I am, do not get deceived by the menu, as many of the items are indeed French though they are not described as it.

For the rest, food presentation is good, as well as the service. For the price you pay (9.95 for 3-course set menu), you get good quality. My advice: good place if you take the set menu and want to eat well and fairly quickly before going to theatre; however not a place for a long dinner or for a date (as stated in previous reviews, the place lacks very much charm/romanticism).

A small note, you will have to pay 50 pences for each of the small bread that they graciously offer you at the beginning of the meal. Also, service charge is automatically included on your bill, though it is not explicitly stated on your bill. These are small disagreements for an otherwise very average restaurant.

I ate there once and was quite satisfied of the food. The waiters are all french and were very nice with us. However, the place is really cold as it's all white with classical music and very poor decoration.

Had an absolutely dreadful meal. The so called french restaurant had nothing french about it. They call "Moules Marinieres" something that apart from the mussels is nothing like "moules marinieres". The service is terrible, the manager is rude, they forget half of the cutlery. Would not even dream of sending my worst ennemy there. It is shameful to have such a restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden.
