What a find, my favourite food a good bottle of wine and a plate of cheese with bread right in the bustle of mid-town. The atomosphere in here is very gentle but lively and once ensconsed at a table (depending on timing, it can get very busy) you'll find it difficult to leave. All the wine and food is brought over from France so this is a genuine French bar, c'est merveilleux!

This is the best place I've eaten at since the Breakfast Bus on the A38. The simple, elegant French fare was wonderful and the bottle of Blue Nun that we had was in tip-top condition. A return visit is inevitable.

A cracking little bar in the heart of the west end.

Nice bottle of Sancerre for about £25 and all the staff were really friendly.

The place was nice and busy with what looked like lots of regulars, and the atmosphere was great.

Did not eat but the menu looked simple and rustic and the food I saw going out looked good.

The staff are great...... We overpaid...all thowing money in a kitty and allowing for a tip................. they bought the money back to us!!! so we had another bottle of wine.

Great atmosphere...basic but good food, very reasonable for London.

I was introduced to this great place last week by a friend, I totally agree with all the other posts, once inside you just simply dont want to leave a special menion regarding the Patron Pascal, he treats everybody like they are regular customers and he has known you for years.

Simply Great

go only if you like blues music, simple tasty cheeses, intimate tight spaces, and a jolly, loud, simple atmosphere. It is small, compact, loud and not really the place for a quiet dinner, but definitely the place for a good conversation with a small group of good friends. and the service, well, its special and superb.

I totally agree with the earlier review. I have lived in London for ten years and last night I was introduced to this little gem by a friend. The fact that he hadn't told his own wife about it for 6 months just proves how protective people are about it. It is simply the loveliest restaurant in London. But please don't tell anyone.

Please don't go here. I love it and don't want to share it with anyone! By no means is this place in my top ten for charm, music or wine at a reasonable price. Nor is the chacuterie fantastic and service friendly in an unpretencious French way.... So please don't go, and definitely don't tell your friends! :-)

Once you visit this amazing find in central london you will not want or be able to leave. A fantastic atmosphere with friendly staff and clientele. Great wine, simple but tasty food. visit, you will love it, but note only regulars sit at the bar. enjoy1

An unpretentious gem of a place in an area otherwise lacking in anything more than 'restaurants' providing mediocre service and value to tourists. The restaurant club (you have to be invited in by a member - or call up and speak nicely (not guaranteed to work!) downstairs was full of people enjoying the great hospitality and atmosphere; the food was traditional French fare and was well executed: homemade terrine, confit of duck, cassoulet etc. They also have a very good cheese board. Prices weren't cheap (but not outrageous)but then they are unlikely to be given the location.

I did not go for a drink at the bar upstairs, but will do so next time as, although it is fairly small and intimate, it had a great buzz about it. What was noticeable was that the customers had smiles on their faces knowing that they had avoided the numerous faceless and impersonal bars nearby and had stumbled upon this gem instead.
