My boyfriend and I went to PJ's last night as we were looking for somewhere to have a nice meal. But it definitely wasn't nice. As soon as we walked in we were rushed to a table by an over-eager if not slightly bored waiter who didn't even leave us enough time to sit down before asking us for our drinks orders. Our drinks arrived within minutes and our food order was taken. My boyfriend had the cod and chips which was nice enough and I ordered the Cornfed chicken breast, rosti potato, spinach, creamy oyster mushroom sauce. Now nothing in that description prepared me for the amount of pepper that I found in the Spinach. The cook must have dropped the entire mill in it. As I'm not a big fan of pepper, this completely put me off my meal and prompted me to drink most of the water bottle we'd ordered. When asked by the waiter why I wasn't eating my meal I explained the situation. He then took my plate away, spoke to the manager and both of them went to taste my food (to check whether I was making it up I gather). The waiter than came back to our table and told me that he'd tasted it, that it was peppery but that he liked it that way.
We were then offered coffee to make up for it, which neither of us wanted. But when the bill came to our table, I was very surprised to see that I'd been charged for a meal I had hardly touched and wasn't edible. Having worked in the industry, I was very shocked that I was being charged £12 for nothing. Needless to say that I will not be going back and that I will make sure to warn people of the poor service. This situation could have very easily been avoided and I could have left thinking that they knew what good customer service was.

Went to PJ's Covent Garden last Saturday.
I had the fenal soup which was quite nice.
I wish i could say the same about the steak which came very dry and with some rather sad chips and small salad. There was no sauce or garnish for the steak and the knives were totally blunt. The ketchup was watery.A motorwqy cafe would be better.
I requested proper sharp steak knives but none were available. The waiter told me he just serves and was not interested,he brought over a bunch of knives that were all blunt and told me to take my pick, all rather unecessary.I did not enjoy the meal at all which ended up like a piece of old leather, and not cheap.I shall not be returning.Seems they have enough passing trade not to worry about repeat custom.

Went to PJs for first time 2 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was fab, service great and the atmosphere brilliant. Definitely worth a second visit. Only negative which is probably more a me thing, is the waitress kept on topping up the wine even though glasses still half full.... apart from that great, easygoing restaurant

This is not a separate restaurant but an alternative entrance to the the one in Wellington Street.
