Ponti's Restaurant

Recently went to this restaurant with a friend and we were both very very disappointed with the experience.
When ordering the poached salmon the waiter looked at my friend confused, my friend had to point out the item on the menu for the waiter to realise that they did serve poached salmon!
I ordered pasta with a tomato sauce that tasted like it had been cooked, cooled and reheated in a microwave - it was that rubbery texture with 4 or 5 pieces of penne stuck together. Also when we ordered a scoop of chocolate ice cream each, we were bought 2 hot chocolates, twice! We refused them and explained we wanted the chocolate ice cream!!
To top it off when we got our bill we weren't happy that a spaghetti dish, pizza dish and the 2 hot chocolates had been added. The same happened to a couple sat next to us, who couldn't believe they'd had extra things added to the bill. Another table next to us were reminding the staff what they had ordered too.
I was left to go through the bill with the waiter and show him what we had and hadn't ordered. No word of apology at all. Just carelessness and stupidity. Awful service with food to match!!!

I ate at Pontis in Covent garden for lunch last week. I found it to be a great disappointment. I dont mind paying £7 for a plate of pasta IF it's good. but this Carbonara was rubbish, I could do a lot better myself. The service was fast and the location lovely, but the food was really not good. It's out to make money and rip off tourists. The food had a definate feeling of beign pre-prepared. I didnt even see a fresh herb.
I left miserable.

I ate at Ponti's, outside, in Covent Garden yesterday. First of all for lunch, and I enjoyed it so much I returned for dinner. I found the food to be of very good quailty, not too expensive, and the portions were of a good size. The service was also good, with the food arriving swiftly, without sacrificing the taste. Overall, I really enjoyed it, and hope to return again next time I am in Covent Garden-it is ideal for quick refreshments whilst shopping, just watching the street entertainers, or as an informal pre-theatre meal.

I have eaten here on numourous occasions for lunch. I have always had a deccent meal here and have never had a bad experiance, but never had a truly pleasureable experiance. It seems like a satisfactory place to enjoy lunch while shopping.

I have eaten at the Covent Garden Ponti's on numerous occasions, most recently in March. While the prices are good, the food quality is pretty hit or miss (on this occasion "miss"). My pasta was cold, my son's pizza bland, and my wife's sandwich was most likely leftover from the previous week. Service is non-existant.
