Le Moulin

I do not recognise anything about the May 06 review of Le Moulin. I ate there last night and it was excellent - simple, well- prepared French food at very reasoanble prices. Tomato salad, guinea fowl and clafoutis. Eric may be many things but pretentious is not one of them!

We were very disappointed. following the reviews on this site, we booked a table for a birthday dinner. The food was bad and the chef's attitude was terribly pretentious. We lived in France for many years and know very well the French cuisine. They might think they could sell this to English diners who are not very knowledgable about French food but it's really annoying. The salad Moulin was a simple lettuce salad with nuts and a very banal cheese. meat was overcooked, served with cheap gravy and tasteless cooked vegetables. Atmosphere is great and the waitress is lovely. It all seem very French but the food is bad and isn't worth the money.

I live round the corner and love the atmosphere here. Eric cooks well and interestingly - rabbit with prunes, navarin and the occasional guinea fowl - and the house red doesn't give you a hangover. The interior is pleasantly dingy and the walls covered with photos. Le Moulin is the kind of place you should find in Soho, but don't.

Looks nothing from the outside but is a true gem. Real home cooked french food, cooked by Eric. The food is great and the prices are remarkable for london dining. If you find yourself in north london - eat here. I go regularly and it is always an absolute pleasure.
