I travel to London from the US often and I have to say this to me is one the best restaurants in town. I have dined at many pre-set menu venues and albeit I leave satisfied I never ever feel the need to RAVE about the place. For 10.00 you get an amazing starter.. My favorite is the goat cheese, onion soup, or Med. Pepper Salad.. BOTH to die for.... I've tried each of the main courses now... and to be honest I don't have a favorite.. They are all fantastic. (The portion sizes of each course are MORE than adequate, which is nice because everyone can get a little taste if wanted and you're not in fear there won't be any left for you) Tiramasu lovers LET ME TELL YOU... The best Tiramasu you'll ever taste is here!! I tried a piece of the apple pie... and being a Yank I do love my apple pie... it was yummy and quite perfect ,but I do have to admit I was sad I did not order the tiramasu that evening as it always makes my night. You do have to pay a small up charge for veg side dish etc... just under 2.00 BUT at this price and quality (The Veg always comes out perfect) it is well worth it and is enough to split between 2 people. The house wines are very nice as well. On my last trip I brought my parents with me from Los Angeles... They were amazed and said this was their best meal they had the whole entire month they were in the UK. Make sure to make a reservation as it truly is a little french restaurant.

What I have noticed is that people writing here have no respect for the work that this nice hard working people do. I have read most of the recent reviews and see that a lot of people do not sign what they are claiming to be the facts. I saw the things in the comments like the quiche and plum tart and prawn cocktails and most recently gateaux which were all "terrible" but when I asked if they had any of these I was told that this place has NEVER served any of the mentioned items in last fifteen years and kindly went through the list of desserts and explained the 3 Course Meal deal to me. If anyone can look me in the eye and honestly say that 3 Course Meal @ £9.95 today in the UK is not the best deal available I would be very surprised as this is simply great little restaurant.

My boyfriend and I have just got back from this place. He is vegetarian and the food was awful. The starter was a salad, which was literally chucked out of a bag, with the tiniest mushrooms 'stuffed with Stilton!!' For the main course, the same 'tasty' salad this time they swapped the mushrooms for tomatoes! In the description the food sounded a lot nicer and was not what we expected.

I had a chicken and mushroom pastry triangle served with their French take on HP brown sauce which was okay I guess. For my main I ordered a lamb wellington, which was meant to be cooked in red wine and rosemary, it tasted like a Greggs pasty served with the same sauce as my starter even though the menu clearly stated it was a different sauce. My lamb had big chunks of fat in it, which you can't see when eating a pasty, it was disgusting! The dessert was the best part of the meal.

Yes the deal was £10, but it wasn't worth that, as you could have spent £10 on a main alone at a nice restaurant and it would've been worth it. The restaurant itself is a very nice, cosy little place. If the menu was altered and food served was of a higher quality, it would be a very nice restaurant.

had to try this place. but why when ever anyone says a discouragning word do a whole heap of praising 10/10 reviews appear?! shushpishus my dear Holmes!

Actually, not bad for a cafe, but I do find myself agreeing with the polish eaters on here, very reminiscent of Eastern European scoff circa 1975/76. Did anyone else find all the wines too sweet? I know Polish eaters like sweet wines, but cmon guys!!

dont like the chips and gatow cake.

We have been visiting The Little French Restaurant for many years now, and we keep going back time again as it is just such a lovely place to spend an evening. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, the food is delicious and exceptionally good value, and the ambience is warm and homely. This is without doubt one of the hidden gems of London, and somewhere I always recommend to friends. I don't think that this place can be beaten in terms of good quality food in an extremely pleasant setting for a very good price. The Little French Restaurant offers a truly lovely way to spend an evening!

We were brought there by good pals of us,mostly because it was opposite the pub we went for a drink before. We should have stayed at the pub and eaten there.

I'm sorry, but i did not enjoy the food at the little French (why this name, when there is nothing French about it ??).

The portion are quite small, which i guess is reflected in their price,so fair enough.

Some people like it there, some don't, I'm in the latter group, the only good thing about this place was the waitress,at least she smiled.

Sorry guys,i wish i could have been on your side but i just can't !! i gave you a 7 for value, not because it is good but because it is cheap, shame that you misinterpreted what value for money means..

It's bizarre reading the comments on here. The food isn't Polish, yes, it does seem cheap for what it offers....but the ambience is great - brickwork, low lighting, pleasant staff, good food.

I live locally, put off by the suspicious pricing and the fact it's opposite a pub; neighbours thought I was brave trying it out. I've been a regular for three years now, and they are too.

The food snobs commenting...yes, I do know what Polish food tastes like. Chicken livers followed by Coq Au Vin is my usual order. Yes, sometimes if I order off piste, the pork or turkey is dry, but complaining about the final cost isn't necessary - if I fancy chips or side veg, no problem and the cost doesn't add hugely to the final bill. I think the grousing about this place is unfair.

My wife and I have just spent a few days in London, and were fortunate enough to discover this delightful restaurant. We would like to thank all the staff for the warm welcome, the stimulating atmosphere. the friendly and efficient service and - most of all - the excellent food. We so enjoyed our dinner on the first evening that we returned every evening for the rest of our stay. It was a joy at the end of each busy day to relax and dine with confidence at this restaurant. Our thanks go to all the staff and in particular to the Chef who produced excellent food at all times. The menu enabled us to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes each day.

We look forward to our next visit.

Four of us had lunch on Sunday for my friend's birthday. We ate from the set menu which was certainly excellent value. The waitress was really charming and smily and got the whole restaurant singing 'happy birthday' when presenting a dessert with a candle. It is rare in London to receive a nice surprise when you get the bill, and we had four glasses of champagne.

I have been a few times before and will certainly go again.

i celebrated my 23rd birthday at the end of january 2011 at the little french restaurant with a group of friends and the experience was excellent. the food was brilliant, very french and bistro kind. the service was also top noch. the overall atmosphere was fantastic, i couldnt find a complaint. our night was topped by the cheap prices of the food which was definatelly worth the money.
