Zizzi (Charlotte Street, London)
The food was ok - nothing special. The waiters / waitresses kept asking us if we wanted more drinks throughout the meal way too many times. The restaurant had a nice setting but I would not be recommending this restaurant to friends.

A large party of us dined at Zizzi. All the meals were wonderful. The service was excellent and the atmosphere warm. The prices are reasonable. I would highly reccommend Zizza's in Highgate. In fact i have been back twice since.

Really substandard and doesn't deserve the good reviews.
To begin with we couldn't understand our waitress and vice versa. Not a great start. Then the starters arrived before the drinks (how difficult is it to open a bottle of wine and two bottles of mineral water). The bruschetta were pretty awful - the bread was rubbery and tasteless although the topping was fresh. My main course, risotto with chicken, was very disappointing. It really is not difficult to make a decent risotto but this seemed ot be out of a packet and even then not cooked properly. The portion of chicken was cooked well and was decently flavoured but miniscule in size. The whole of the dish was lukewarm too.
The whole meal was not expensive (£18 a head including service) but I'd rather pay a bit more and have better food than this.

Nice food, with big portions, although the garlic bread wasn't really what I expected. The only bad thing is the noise! Of course a packed restaurant with lots of happy diners will be loud but somehow, both times I went, it was extra audible and slightly tainted the experience as I couldn't even hear the person I was eating with!

I love the Con Carne Piccante on offer here, it looks like a massive cornish pastie but tastes much better! £7.75 well spent
I don't recommend the Pasta's though, my friends' meals were luke warm, with the tomato sauce being watery.
Enjoyed the Torta Tartufo al Cioccolato - but being honest I don't eat sweets much and cannot compare this dessert with anything similar.

Having spent some time in the States, I think it's about time that we started praising the chain restaurants in Britain that really do offer a good quality dining experience. Zizzi is one such restaurant.
It's never going to be amazing, but its dependable and really offers nothing to moan about.
Had a lovely time there last night.

A group of friends and I unanimously agree that we have just had the worst Italian meal we have ever had in London at this restaurant.
The pasta was dry and luke warm, my friend and I ordered the same dish and when they arrived they looked like two totally different dishes, both were equally awful. All our food tasted like it had been poured out of a can and microwaved.
The manager took them away without question and took them off the bill without argument, although we were thankful not to have to argue the case it does make you think that they are used to this happening.
Once again, absolutely awful food, do not bother with this place. On a street with such lovely restaurants there is no need to eat rubbish!

The food at Zizzi's is good enough for a lunchtime but the service was a little too imposing. Asked by two waitresses if our food was ok and had our wine topped up twice in the space of a couple of minutes.
Also, I ordered lobster spaghetti only to discover that it was actually crayfish. I didn't say anything but I know the difference.
If they'd have been honest I wouldn't have minded but it was like eating crab sticks!
