North London Tavern

I went to the North London for dinner for the first time about six months ago and have been going back at least every two weeks. The food is fantastic and while the menu changes frequently, the quality and service do not. Other than one incident of overcooked monkfish (on Valentine's day when the restaurant was completely full and manic), I have always been pleased with my experiences at the NLT and always excited about the prospect of a meal there.

Went for a Sunday bite to eat here last week with my Dad....arrived at 4pm really hungry but were told the kitchen closes at 4....however the totally LOVELY chap who seemed to be in charge agreed that they could do us a bite to eat...he couldn't have been more helpful...gave us the choice of the whole wonderful menu and we had the dining room to ourselves. Food (steak & chips and fish & chips) was EXCLLENT...v good value and lovely atmos as ever. LOVING THIS LOCAL....will be back every Sunday. Totally yum.

Have just come back from very disapointing sunday lunch - dreadful food, bad service and rude waitress. And they added 12.5 % service on the bill.

This is one of my favourite places to eat in London. I've been going ever since the refurb, the management are cool and curteous, the food impeccable, and great value. Sunday lunch is crackin'. I once savoured the scallops and black ink risotto to start, and i've been hankering after it ever since. Superb. The upstairs room is a good little party venue too

I think Edna should get on the ferry she mentions rather than reviewing venues that changed management, had a total rennovation rather than just referb and that now has a seperate restaurant area at least a year prior to her review.
Snake Bite makes the eyes bleary Edna, time to knock it on the head!
The new look NLT is superb and is the best watering hole for miles around. As a local reseident I'm now thrilled to have a pub worthy of being my "local".

I think Edna must have visited the NLT before it's makeover, when it's yellow facade did indeed warn of the horrors within. But it's very different now. Spacious, good selection of drinks, good restaurant and helpful staff. But for me the best thing about it is the musical policy. No dreadul chill out music, but best of all th level is low and the speakers well placed, so you can talk without having to shout but are aware of music in the background. Just pray they never turn it up any louder...
