I live near this restaurant nd i have a takeaway from it once a week so hopefully my review will rather objective.

Most of the times the food is absolutely superb, my favourite is vietnamese pork! But there are days when the food is far from fabulous.

Overall I have to say it is the best chinese in London, even compared to the upmarket ones like Mr Chow.

My advice is if you are not happy with the food, tell the waiter, the servce in this place has always been impecable.

This restaurant is an absolute oasis in the desert that is Commercial Street. We had such a great evening and our only wish at the end of it was that we had not been recommended this gem a year back! The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is sincere rather than pretentious. Our starters were delicious, an array of light "dim-sum" to warm anyone's heart, and there are plenty of dishes to delight the vegetarians, too (there were two amongst our party of eight, and they felt they were more adequately catered-for than in other Chinese restaurants they had frequented). The main courses were so scrumptious that our conversations quelled in awe as we concentrated on the serious business of feeding our eager bellies - at the top of our favourites was the mouth-watering mixed seafood supreme in XO sauce. More, please!

We truly enjoyed our evening at Eat East, where the wine flowed easily and we were sufficiently mellowed and satisfied by the time we departed - but not before planning a return visit! Great value for money, too - what a find!

I live near this restaurant and it is one of my local favourites aswell as the best Chinese I've had in London. The service is excellent and I've never had a dish I didn't enjoy 100%. The szechuan is the best I've had anywhere. Great value too.

Brilliant friendly local Chinese restaurant. The food is excellent. The specials are the best. The people giving the bad review for the food probably stuck with the standard options, which are actually perfectly fine and much better than reviewed but for the real wow factor you should go for the specials. The owners are exceptionally friendly - it's a pleasure to go in there. They even gave me a cure for my cold. Who says London isn't friendly?

I went to this restaurant on Friday night and I really enjoyed the food. This is the best affordable chinese restaurant I've been to in London so far.

The menu is extensive and there is a reasonable choice of vegetarian dishes. Plus, if you ask, they will make a vegetarian version of quite of few of the meat dishes on the menu.

In terms of the food, my boyfriend particularly enjoyed the mongolian lamb starter, and the vegetarian lettuce wrap is good too. For mains, the tofu and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce was very nice, and they made us a vegetable satay, which was excellent.

I find the food less greasy than most chinese restaurants, and it is very good value overall. Our bill came to about £30 for two (no wine, but a few beers). The only shame is that the main restaurant is quite quiet. I hope this changes, as I wouldn't want them to close down.

We ate at Eat East last night and were extremely disappointed. While the service was good, the meal was more than expected and the quality not very good. Flavourless would be the best way to describe the dishes. A shame really since all the earlier reviews were so favourable.

Fantastic Chinese restaurant very near to Spitalfields Market. Came across it in the Time Out Cheap Eats book (which raved about it) and thought I'd give it a go. A large group of us went and we were all very impressed with the great range of dishes (I agree the mongolian lamb was amazing), the friendly but not over-bearing service and the extremely reasonable bill. This place should be a lot busier, I hope its profile raises a bit higher. I'll definitely be going back and have already recommended it to friends in the area.

What a find! I visited Eat East last week on a recommendation. It was a celebration so I was hoping for a really good meal. We were not dissapointed! It was quite simply the best Chinese meal I've ever had. Not only was the food superb (you must try the Crispy Moroccan Lamb....it's out of this world!), but the service was impeccable and we were treated like royalty AND it was great value for money. I'm now telling all my friends about this fantastic resturant and if there's nothing else you try for the first time this year, try this place: it's wonderful.
