The Durrell
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
Firstly, I'd like to say that I used to be the Durrell's single greatest fan. It used to be a great bar with scrummy wood-fired pizzas and an unfussy attitude. It even was my "date place" once upon a time.
It has changed. Dramatically.
In a growing trend in Fulham, gone are the comfy sofas and pool tables - hello 30 or so chandeliers and a bewildering menu. Pints out, Chablis in.
Sadly the famous pizzas are gone. In their place rather chi-chi rissottos and fish dishes, neither as tasty nor as good value as their predecessors. I wouldn't say the food was terrible, but it's sad that they've ripped up a cracking bar and restaurant in a slightly pretentious and misguided attempt to gentrify the place. Even the staff, who are still very nice, didn't know what half the dishes are.
I am in mourning.

You can always tell a good pub when the locals flock there every Monday night for the 2 for 1 pizzas. Great tasting, good service, laid back atmosphere. Can't give it enough praises.

Only been once. They didn't have my tipple. Manager suggested an alternative which he let me have for free. When he later saw I was taking me time drinking it, he asked how it was and suggested something else. Again on the house as, he said, the first suggestion was his fault. Great customer care.
