Excellent little restaurant, warm and inviting with the friendliest staff I have ever come across. Brilliant service together with tasty food made my wife's birthday surprise dinner a memorable experience.

My family, some of whom would top the best chef's, have used this wonderful restaurant for the past 24 and more years, our children eat there today. It is the best in town when it comes to seriously good taste, perfect cooking, great service and friendly faces!

Not sure what to make of some of the reviews on this site as they are completely at odds with my experience of the place! Akash is up there with the best I've had. And I've had a lot of curry. The fish specials are ace.

Not only that, but my American mother-in-law, who always orders off-menu and is pretty hard to please, went back three times in two weeks. Never once did they get her order wrong.

I'm not trying to mislead anyone - it's not the cheapest place, and I'm sure there are some superb places out there that I've missed - but we've been back there time and time again and we've not been disappointed. Give it a try.

We felt compelled to write this review given how much we love this restaurant, and how poor the review is on the site - totally disagree!

Akash is a lovely family owned restaurant, and has a real local feel. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's known as Little Venice's little hidden secret. After match days at Lords it is rammed full - and we have often had to wait for a table at weekends.

Takeaways are a very good standard too. Recommended highly.

Felt the need to write a review about this place purely because the service was so terrible. I have visited the Akash previously a couple of times on a Saturday night purely as it's the closest curry place to my house (being a bit lazy) and never thought the food was great. The onion bhajis are good and they have lime pickle which are plus points but the curries are really bland.

I have a discount card which apparently gets 50% off the food bill on weekdays here. However tonight I went here and at the end of the very mediocre meal was presented with a bill getting ONE main course free. They clearly knew they were ripping us off as refused to give us an itemised bill (unbelievable!).

I have been for far better curries (Bombay NIghts in West Hampstead is amazing and also does a deal). Feeling pretty annoyed being ripped off by more than £10 for pretty boring food to be honest. Never again!

On a recent 6 day visit to London we ate here twice. Found it first as it was close to our hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal - three of us tried three different dishes both times for our main course - all highly enjoyable, and very reasonably priced. Good sized portions. Food is generally not over-spiced, and menu, although not extensive, is interesting and creative. would recommend this place highly.

I have just eaten what I would describe as a 'bog standard' take-away selection: Chicken Tikka Masala, Pilau Rice, Stuffed Paratha, Onion Bhaji.

The Chicken Tikka Masala was nice, but no stronger than a mild Korma (even looked suspiciously like a Korma too). The Rice was excellent - fluffy and aromatic. The Paratha was a tad on the greasy side, and not obviously stuffed with anything. The Onion Bhaji arrived in a paper bag and was stone cold by the time it got to me (I only live 150 yards from Akash).

Overall, this wasn't "bad" food. It wasn't swimming in grease as other reviewers have alluded to - and it was all in all decent, tasty food. But is wasn't stunning.

My real grip is the price. According to their menu (which arrived with the meal) this should have cost £14.00. I didn't have the menu in front of me, and they charged me £14.95. Either way (£14 or £15) this is quite big money for food that is average at best.

Akash should figure out what it wants to be: Either a great "hidden secret" serving great food that is on the pricey side for non-gourmet curry, or a cheap and cheerful, average curry house.

At the moment, it's not doing either.

RUBBISH!! Possibly the worst Indian food we've ever had.

Vegetable Biryani rice was just rice and potato and the Aloo Gobi tasted and looked identical to the Biryani veg curry!! The Sag was completely tastless and Chicken Madras was drowning in oil and had hardly any taste or heat.

The chapati was fine (can't get that wrong?) and delivery was fast (we live around the corner).

But after reading the positive reviews and spending £25.00 on an extremely sub-standard meal, we are very disappointed.

Obviously, food opinions are all subjective and everyone has different tastes but I don't think you could get much worse than Akash Tandoori.

Shame.
