This restaurant served us genuninely the worst meal I have eaten out in a very long time - and in the Kings Road, Cheslea too! We were so unhappy with the whole experience, that we did not leave any extra money for service (in fact, they only told us at the end of the meal that they do not take credit cards and running to the cashpoint at the Tesco garage was not an appealing prospect, so we scraped together what cash we had on us). Location and environment-wise, this restaurant is charming and welcoming and the menu is quite broad and appealing. The food, however, was not. We ordered a selection of starters - bresaola, mozarella and tomato, a green salad and pizza bread. The only white wine on the menu under £20 was the house wine which was cheap and nasty and very expensive at £16.50. One was left with the impression that 'the markup' here was all that mattered. The bresaola was dry, tasteless and not worth eating at all. The pizza bread was simply a normal pizza base with salsa di pomodoro topping, not the thin and crispy, seasoned starter that we imagined. The mozarella and tomato was really the only enjoyable part of the meal and the green salad was lacklustre, with no dressing available. In short, the meal was way below average, but the staff at L'Antico were not interested enough to ask why we hadn't eaten it. The owner of the restaurant did not hide his contempt when we asked for tap water and, in fact, didn't bring us any. We believe we might have fared better if we had ordered a simple pizza each, as these looked okay, but, all in all, our experience at L'Antico was expensive and sub-standard.

Simply the best Pizza base in London!!!! I have eaten on numerous with Italians and they could not believe how authentic the pasta and pizza was. I would recommend this to anybody who was seeking an afternoon lunch on a weekend, if the weather is good, as you can sit outside.
The downside is that they do not accept cards, so take cash with you and the inside also marginally cramped and small.
The food is not expensive, however better than most of Londons top Italian restaurants.
I Insists if you have nothing to do on a saturday/sunday afternoon and the sun is shining, head down here for a Pizza, Glass of wine and it will cost you know more than £12 per head.
One of Londons hidden gems.
