The Odd Spot Cafe
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
The Odd Spot used to be a fantastic place for breakfast, frequented by rowers and people with terrible hangovers alike. It had a huge choice from mushrooms on toast to the classic full English via Eggs Benedict. However it's been taken over and turned into a horrible atmosphere free bistro type coffee shop with the choice or three breakfasts and frequented by well to do young families with screaming children. The decor is sterile and the service is clueless. The chefs have clearly been replaced too as the quality of the dishes has plummeted but the prices have gone up. Please don't make the mistake of going here based on recommendations made before it all went wrong (for example the review in London by London was from in its heyday).

I live locally to the Odd Spot. It started out life as a greasy spoon. The current owners bought it and turned it into a good neighbourhood restaurant. It was heavily patronised by locals. Since then, the owners have opened The Bridge and Hit. As a result, they have taken their eye off the ball at the Odd Spot. It closed for evening food some time ago and has effectively turned back into a greasy spoon. The food's still Ok however the atmostphere is not good: who wants to eat their meal with other people standing around their table, waiting for take away coffee. Considerably fewer locals now patronise the place.
