We went there for a meal last night after been recommended by a friend. we had Calamari in curry leaves and Aloo Bonda lightly spiced potato balls both of the starters were delicious followed by Laal Maas a spicy rajasthani dish and my partner had a Lamb Shank in organic vegetables it was very nice and tender. The quality of the meat is excellent to compliment the spicy dish we had a bottle of Don jacoba RIOJA which really went well.

4 Northern Girls Back down on our annual trip to Ascot/London for the weekend and couldn't pass up the chance to visit our favourite restaurant. We couldn't believe it but the proprietor actually remembered us from the previous year!! Once again excellent service, food and atmosphere and nothing too much trouble for the lovely staff. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone with a liking for good Indian Cuisine. Roll on next year!!!

I went there with my 3 German friends who were staying in London for the weekend, we had Tandoor mix grill to start with which is an assortments of delicious chicken, meat and prawns served with mix crispy salad leaves. Our maincourse consisted of Lamb pasanda - tender lamb marinaded in mild spices, jheinga kadhai - succulent jumbo prawns in authentic spices a true delicious indian dish. For Dessert we had caramalised carrot cake which was splendid. Overall Satisfactory - we will go back.

First class service from the incomparable Hussein who always welcomes you like an old friend. The bangalore phal is well worth the effort, but steer clear of the chilli olive. I nearly expired after eating one, it really is for the professional chilli muncher.

We went to Shikara after reading the excellent reviews on this site but it was a great disappointment. The starters (vegetarian samosa and jheenga butterfly) were not very good and definitely cooked from frozen. The main courses were quite average; we ordered two different chicken dishes but could hardly taste the difference.

I took my girlfriend to Shikara last night after reading the good ratings and reviews and despite my high expectations, I found the restaurant to be simply amazing. The decor is of the highest standard having converted the old notorious Jimmy's bar into a restaurant. There are not many tables giving the place a relaxed and uncrowded feel, even when all tables were full. There are more than enough waiters as well, often two of them to serve you your food at any time. All of this helps to set a perfect atmosphere with the relaxed chilled music at just the right volume.

The food looked great off the menu and we opted for a combination of tandoorie starters. For our main, we went full out and had the garlic lamb gosht, Jheenga lobster Karahi with rice and organic veg.- well enough for both of us.

Lastly, we asked the waiter his suggestions for dessert and he recommended the home made ice cream (also the cheapest dessert so full marks for not trying to get money out of us!) and he was right - homemade kulfi and homemade kulfi ice cream was mind blowing and the perfect way to round off a delicious meal and a wonderful evening.

My friend and I ate at Shikara last night. We had the 4 course special deal as advertised in London Eating. We booked our table for 8pm and the place was rather quiet but by 9pm the place had a real buzz without being too intrusive.

All linen, cutlery and glasses were clean and the napkins even had napkin rings which were discreetly removed from the table once we had started eating. The music was perfect and at the correct volume. Even though the restaurant isn't non smoking the air conditioning was`really effective and so didn't taint the evening in the slightest.

The choice of food was impressive and you could even choose whether your food is cooked in ghee or olive oil. We both had a hard time deciding what to order. Eventually when we did the timings of one course after the other were perfect and the food - so good. There was both quantity and quality. Each mouthful was well appreciated. I had the duck which was very succulent and tender and my friend had the Butter Murg and that too was flavoursome without drying out the chicken. There was so much food we couldn't finish it all.

The service was polite. We were walking on our way home when the owner pulled over in his car to hand to us a pair of glasses that had been left at the restaurant. Even though the glasses weren't ours we were really impressed by the extra service especially since we weren't using the main roads.

We would definetly be going back.
