Hafez 11

The food at hafez is probably in the upper tier of london persian dining. The bread is freshly made and the koobedeh was succulent and plentiful without being either overly greasy or loaded with too much onion. The place itself, while small has a nice relaxed atmosphere, especially at night.
Now onto the service. When we asked for a table we were treated to a few grunts and were sloppily shown to our table. Considering I speak fluent farsi I was not expecting such apathetic service. Maybe they were having a bad day since I've heard alot of praise about hafez, but the service was atrocious when I dined there and won't be returning any time soon.

after being told about this restaurant we decided to visit. The starter portion was small and the kebab although nice, was very salty which then leads to having to buy more drink!! music is fantastic - well done

as a (british born) iranian i am very proud to say that Hafez is undeniably the best persian restaurant in london. dont be put off by the tacky decor, the food is out of this world, especially the lamb kebabs.
perfect takeway and healthy alternative to a greasy curry or msg loaded stir fry.

As far as I, my husband, and all our friends are concerned, Hafez restaurant is the best Persian restaurant in London. My husband and I have had our wedding reception and his 50th birthday at Hafez, and each occasion was unforgettable. We are regular visitors of Hafez since 1993, and every time that we have eaten there has been fantastic. Since the redecoration of Hafez 1, I must say that the atmosphere is even better than before. I am English, and well as many of my friends, who have all very much enjoyed the Persian food, service, and the whole experience greatly.

We booked the whole restaurant for our reception in April 06. I was called more than once to be reminded that they required payment and that they would prefer cash, even though it was agreed that we would pay on the day. We had agreed on a set menu and times that courses were to be served and exclusive use of the restaurant for the whole evening.
We found the staff had let in a few regular customers later in the evening (we hadn't noticed till later as the restaurant is on two floors), our guests waited TWO HOURS between starters and main course, some of our guests had to leave without a meal as they had far to travel and dessert, although agreed in the price per head was not served at all, although they maintained that everyone had been asked whether they wanted it or not (Nobody I spoke to was asked). They refused to reduce the price we paid and generally ruined our special day, obviously not being able to cope with large groups.
Food is generally good, in terms of service, one to avoid.

This has classical iranian dishes with good quality ingredients. Portions are reasonably sized (except that the starters are small). The service is good, the waiters are attentive, but the place lacks a bit of pazzaz in terms of the decor.
