I love this place. How many independent and decent cute little bistro cafe restos are there in London anymore???
Why I love the Wet Fish Cafe? They make one of the best Flat Whites I've had in the UK. And I know the owner fusses over his coffee making on a daily basis. The selection of fresh smoothies are exceptionally yummy and if you just come in for a drink, the staff don't hassle you. Great atmosphere & classic decor. I chill out, read the papers there, have a think about life and could quite easily eat my way through the menu and stay there all day.
Brunch is one of my favourite things to do there. I adore their French toast on the weekends. Exceptional Eggs Benedict - and believe me, albeit a simple dish, it's hard to get right.
Fish is very fresh here. Menu is varied, simple but interesting. The main thing I like here is their use of quality ingredients. Being a sucker for sweet things, I adore their desserts - panna cottas they make being one of my favourites.
Dinner turns into quite a different affair than the day atmosphere.
A great local place in West Hampstead. Residents should be glad they have it.

As a food-lover with gluten, dairy and egg allergies, dining out can be difficult. The waiting staff, owner and chef all greeted me by name and served the "special of the day" which had been prepared specifically to suit my restrictions. Overall great atmosphere, friendly staff, and attention to detail created a dining experience that will guarantee a return visit. Thank you to The Wet Fish Cafe.

I like this place a lot, but this time we came away feeling a little cheated.
My girlfriend and I visited WFC on a Saturday morning and ordered two fresh orange juices (£3.50) and two orders of their smoked cheese on toast (£4). Knowing the area and WFC, there are a handful of decent places to eat, WFC being one our favourites.
The fresh orange juices were nice, nothing special, so for the price £3.50 rather expensive. The cheese on toast was to be honest a rip off. Three pieces of bread, one slice of white bread (standard not sourdough) cut in half and another half slice toasted covered in smoked cheese, exactly does it says on the tin you could argue. The problem is that for cheese on toast at £4 you expect bloody good cheese on toast but sadly this was not, it was simply bog standard cheese on toast but with smoked cheese.
Our bill was just under £17 for 2 x fresh orange juices and 2 x bog standard cheese on toast, inc. service charge (we had to ask the waitress to take our order).
If you do go to the WFC just be prepared to pay for the privilege of sitting in one of there seats, as they appear to made of gold.

West End Lane is a bit of an anomaly, in that it's peppered with loads of little cafes that look nice - but are distinctly below par once you're in!
In my opinion, the Wet Fish stands out as one of the better places, but honestly, I have had two ropey experiences that have put me off...
A friend and I dropped in at a quiet time for coffee and cake, and even this basic order took aaaages to come – I had to ask for it after 15 mins wait. And the cake (when it came, the waitress forgot that too) was so dry or stale, it actually put me in a bad mood - I know, I sound like a princess, but it's not cheap and I just felt jaded that they had the audacity/ignorance to serve stale cake - not warmed up or anything.
Honestly, I'm not that fussy - it's just a shame when good local cafes start leaning too heavily on their laurels. More competition needed!
Would still recommend for brunch despite my rant.

The staff is exemplary (one of the best I have experienced in London by far): friendly, attentive, and courteous. And, the ambiance is one of which we have been looking for a long time in London: nice decor, fun, welcoming, and cozy. The owner, Andre, conducts himself with utmost professionalism which ultimately reflects in the integrity of the restaurant. This may be our new spot to share with friend.

Took my mum for lunch on a wet November Tuesday... we walked in feeling fed-up and cold and walked out cheerie and uplifted. I had booked a table and ordered my mum's favourite cocktail in advance. We were given a lovely table and the Manhattan arrived on cue...The waiter, American, was really pleasant with a professional attitude. We both had the Sea Bream, which was very tasty - we also had spinach and ordered a second portion straight away as it was both tasty and extremely fresh. I had orange juice, which was super fresh... just squeezed, also recommend the ginger and lemon infusion, especially in the winter.
What I liked the best is that everyone seemed to care a lot that we had a good dinning experience and the manager asked for feedback afterwards, which showed both confidence and commitment to customer service. I have already booked to go back in two weeks when I see my mother again for our regular lunch date. They seem really happy to cater for special requests, I have a gluten allergy and they took great care to ensure my meal was gluten free. Recommend it highly.

The Wet Fish, what a find! Have been going there for a few years now and it really has to be the number one place for a 'Girlies' evening. Andre and his team are so chilled and pleasant, the food is always excellent (and as a vegetarian I have to say it's such a relief to eat there, mouth watering, great vegetarian options!) Going tonight to celebrate my 48th birthday - a romantic dinner for two -can't wait! Oh, yes, and what great desserts!

Had a really great meal at the Wet Fish last night, first time we'd been there and we absolutely loved it! The food was amazing, particularly the sea bream with chorizo, the wine was excellent, and the atmosphere and service were really lovely. Can't fault it, highly recommended.
