We came on a sat noon 01/2007 for dim sum to this spacious place. steamed prawn chives dumplings (2.1pounds,7/10points), pork prawn beancurd rolls (2p,8/10), turnip paste(2p, 7/10), deep fried prawn dumplings+salad sauce (2.1p,8/10,small), crispy noodle roast pork (5.2p,8/10), tea 1.5p -> total 17 pounds for two, 10% service charge will be added.

Plus: detailed bill, authentic + good food! Minus: 5-10% higher price compare with chinatown, no typical food trolleys!

I heard great things about this restuarant so on Sunday 17 I decided to try their dim sum with my Father. We arrived about 4.30 and was asked if we wanted Dim sum and then we waited 25 mins for somebody to take our order, only to be told by a very rude waitress that it was too late to order dim sum. So I explained that we were told we could order when we arrived and she proceeded to say that we should have ordered as soon as we sat down. (how can we do that when we don't know what was on the menu??)

Anyway I told her there was nobody to ask to order anyway and we had to wait for get somebody's attention, only for her to tell me that there was lots of staff nearby so we should have asked one of them. She then walked off and we were going to walk out but she can back to say we can order if we were quick.

Anyway the food was ok, the best was the Shanghai dumplings but everything else had a lot of msg in. The tarot/sago pudding was also nice.

On the whole we were v disappointed with the food, the decor and the staff. We defintely won't be going back and in the future i will be sticking to Shangahi restaurant in Kingsland road, Dalston

Excellent authentic Chinese food, however, expensive considering the real lack of atmosphere (more café style) and less then average service. We had to try and catch the attention of the waiters so we could order our drinks, and at £80 for four dishes, they didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our meal, smiled or even greet us when we entered the restaurant.

Treat Peninsula as an expensive fast food restaurant. Even though the food was good, there are better Chinese restaurants in London that will ensure that you have a better eating experience for more value for money.

I have visited this restaurant three times over the last year and the food has always been excellent. The staff were courteous and always seat visitors quickly. I did wait a short while for the dishes to arrive, but they didn't disapoint with prawn dishes with just the right amount of ginger and large individual portions of rice and vegetables. Certainly one of the better Chinese restaurants in Greenwich.

Probably the best Chinese restaurant south of the river. Service, no different to Soho based eateries (friendly, yet practical). Food was authentic and its great to have real Chinese food available in Greenwich. A bit pricey, but then volumes of food served are large. Book in advance to avoid dissapointment.

I suspect Paul E.(mixed/bad review)doesn't want anyone turning up and getting his table!

The dim sum is the best in london and the a la carte menu is very good.

The staff are helpful and down to earth.

I love this place and hope that it is the exception in restaurants, in that it does not change to the sorrow of old and faithful customers.

I've made three visits so far, based on recommendation and popularity. Two visits during lunch time and one during the evening. On all three occasions, I've received little to no service. I enjoy slow relaxing meals in the evening but with drinks served slower than meals with reminders being issued on several occasions questions whether service exists in this popular restaurant. Waiters are inattentive and the only thing I find fast about their service is the production of the bill for your meal.

The food quality is passable but nothing exciting. Dim sum during lunch is rushed (both on a busy Sunday and on a quiet weekday). Some are well prepared, some are badly done. Some of the more luxurious foods such as seafood are below-par during a reasonably quiet evening. The wine selection is pretty good but spoilt by the food that accompanies it.

It has been a disappointing experience so far with Peninsula, perhaps I had my hopes too high. If you are looking for an average meal, Peninsula will pass, but expect too much and you won't be pleased.
