We went to the Ealing branch last night (on Northfields Avenue) - top notch food, service and atmosphere, and didn't break the bank. The house red was lovely, too. Highly recommended.

My wife and i popped in for lunch as we live in the area and had never been to a Sri Lankan restuaraunt. The food was outstanding, the venue has been very well decorated and first class service at affordable prices. This is a place where you really do get value for your money. I would recommend it to anyone. AAA+++

We first moved to Northfields 10 years ago and on several occasions visited the Sri Lankan restaurant, Sigirya, mentioned by Mrs Carey in her review but stopped going as slowly the service and quality of the food there lost its edge - which was visible by the lack of customers - the restaurant was always empty. When it eventually closed and we were not surprised. Then, Papaya opened! We were one of their first customers and have been back regularly since. We have also recommended it to friends who have also fallen in love with it. Service is always friendly and efficient and the food is excellent - having visited Sri Lanka on many occasions can vouch for its authenticity. As the good reviews by far outweigh the bad I can only think that Mrs Carey is either very hard to please or has been going to the wrong restaurant!

I am one of the regulars who goes to Papaya for simply the quality of the food and the service that they provide. As to Mrs Carey's comment on Papaya in Ealing, I believe you are bit of short minded and whom never experienced an authentic food of Sri-Lanakan as a whole. Just for your information its not a typical Sinhalese restaurent, I must say they trying to provide variety of dishes which covers the country itself not for particular ethinic group.
You must have gone for the wrong dishes which wasnt your kind, what about the devils and Kothus.
I must say I was very much dissapointed to see such a comment where they were trying to provide and excellent food.

Went to the Papaya restaurant on February 19th for the first time. We were so impressed by the food and service that we returned again the next evening. We have eaten in good restaurants all around the world and this is one of the top in its category; £20 a head including drinks. Unlike most restaurants in this price range Papaya had it all; fresh ingredients, pleasant service, and warm and arty atmosphere. This is the first time I have been compelled to write a restaurant review. The people who have given it a bad review obviously know nothing about food!

We had a meal in Papya resturent and was very diserpointed with the food. Before Papya took over that venue there used to be a nice little resturant named Sigiry which my husband and I used visit at least three times a year, we enjoyed the hospitality and the tasty food . It is sad to say Papya cannot be even closer to Sigiri resturant and should not call them self a Sri Lankan resturant as the food is more South Indian than the original Sinhalese food.
The food was horrible and service was Poor!! I will not site there again.

Papaya, is in a class of its own. I regularly eat at the Ealing branch and the food is of excellent quality. The service is very attentive and I consider that it is the best Sri Lankan restaurant in London at present. Being of Sri Lankan origin, I have tried virtually every Sri Lankan restaurant in London, and no other restaurant comes close. Papaya's food is authentic, fresh, and consistently remains so.

We visited the Ealing branch on Northfields Avenue to take advantage of the lunchtime deal of a main for £5.00 and also to try it out for the first time. Friends had been in the evening and highly recommended it, so we thought we'd give it a go.
The restauarant was clean and tidy with a glorious bunch of spiralled bamboo canes on the desk; so very inviting! It was not massively busy, however it was Wednesday lunchtime!
We tried the Chicken string hopper and a Chicken curry with lemon rice. Both meals were tasty, and topped off nicely with local beers.
The experience was excellent value for money, the service was polite and efficient and food was served quickly and to the correct temperature.
Yes, we'll be going back to try the Devilled Chicken which was highly recommended. It's great to find an alternative to your standard curry house on the doorstep!

Absolutley brilliant. You feel like you are in the city centre when you enter this place not in the suburbs. I have been reccomending it to everyone I know!

One of the finest restaurants in the Capital, if not England.
Not only does it look fantastic but the food is stunning.
If you are looking for the finest Sri Lankan / South Indian food in V.I.P surroundings, look no further.
I question the person, who gave this 0/10,
I suggest they stick to turkey twizzlers.
