The manager at this venue was decidedly rude to our group, and for a venue that 'isn't afraid to try something new, it isn't ticking any of those boxes. It wasn't a particularly hot day but it was far too warm inside. Needless to say we didn't stick around

After reading about the dreadful experience of the below reviewers me and my party decided to NOT go here for dinner. How rude and nasty. I shall tell all my friends that the manager is clearly inferior in his behaviour.

The staff at this pub should be ashamed of themselves.

I went there last night with a group of 40 people (we had booked an area and arranged it with the pub beforehand). The group consisted of a range of ages from 20 to 60+. All of us bought drinks (as you do in pubs) and many of us bought food.

After we had been at the pub for a short while one of our group walked out having been very rudely spoken to by the manager. She was an older lady who had opted for a cup of tea, and been told that food must be bought and that this wasn't a place for people like her (the manager actually banged her fist on the table while imparting this information).

A few of us, who had arranged to drink at this pub, approached the manager to find out what was wrong. We were told that our group did not "fit in the with image of the pub" that she was trying to create. She told us "people are standing up at the bar and laughing at you."

She insisted we should buy more food, though there were plenty of groups in there who were just drinking. She also said that if we wanted to come back she would find us a space downstairs out of the way.

Her staff were very rude, and at times mean (failing to clean up after accidentally spilling a drink on one of our group and then returning to the bar to laugh about it with the rest of the staff).

We all spent money in her pub. We were all polite to the staff and well behaved.

It amazes me how a pub like this, in the heart of a city that is famed for its diversity, can be so prejudiced. I think the manager and her staff should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves, and hope this review helps them to see changes need to be made in their attitude. Needless to say we will not be returning.

I had a shocking experience in here this evening, when an elderly woman amongst my group was confronted by the manager in an appalling manner. We were told we could only stay if we ordered food (which many of us had) and we were all drinking. Because we were knitting, the elderly members of the group were told that they didn't fit in with the 'image of the pub'. I've never witnessed such disrespect and appalling customer service in my life. We meet as a group every week and never have we received such hostility from a venue in three years.

I'd heard some good reviews from friends of mine who had eaten here and I must say I agree with them.

I have never received such great service from what is primarily a bar. The girls that looked after our table were not only good looking, but very charming with it. We ordered a chicken pie - Better than my mums - lamb chops which were very tender and had to try the banana and toffee cheesecake.

Atmosphere was lively and a hive of activity, old and new tunes played through the music system. A superbly friendly place in the middle of the west end. Would definately reccommend to anyone.

After reading the amazing reviews of this pub my partner and I went for dinner and obviously did not eat in the same place as other reviewers. The place was busy but not over run, we were able to get a table easily.

My sun-blush tomato tart came out looking flat and overcooked (sort of like a supermarket quiche) though it tasted okay. Despite eating very slowly and asking a member of staff my partner's steak did not arrive until well after I finished my meal. His meal was beautifully presented but he complained that the steak tasted of nothing. The home-made chips were lovely. The extra chips ordered with my meal never arrived.

Neither of us would ever go there again. Very disappointed.

Corner Store Gastro Pub

I can honestly say having just picked this venue from the Internet was not sure what I would expect, and in all essence this experience went beyond what I was expectiing.

Myself and my friends were welcomed like old frriends that had been frequenting this venue for years. the service was beyond words can say , the food was absolutley delicious and hot and filling.

Prices very reasonable and above all the atmosphere was electric which has all the oldies playing in the background it made us feel we were in a disco/nightclub but it wasn't.

We sat there laughed drank and ate and danced on the sofa seats.

My hats off to the management who introduced themselves and made sure we everything was OK

So go try this , this venue also has a comedy club as well

Whilst the food was great and the majority of staff very friendly, my experience was totally ruined by the manager's toally unacceptable and rude 'sense of humour' and comments. He insulted myself before we had even ordered and he's lucky we did not leave right there and then. I will not be going back again.

Relaxed atmosphere and perfect for a lunch time evening meal with friends on an informal occasion. The staff were exceedingly accomodating and gave it that "family-run" feeling.
