I go there often at lunch time, to sit at the conveyor belt.
There is a bit of a restricted variety of sushis, but they are all good and fresh. California rolls are very good.
Service is OK, quite inexistant actually, given the convyeor belt system.
GOOD PLACE FOR QUICK HEALTHY LUNCH

I regularly order take away food from this restaurant when i am working late and it definately is the best sushi and sashimi in the City. Beats K10, Itsu and Yo! combined!

Really nice, authentic Japanese restaurant. Sat downstairs on the tatami with our shoes off one Friday evening. The sushi conveyer area upstairs was completely empty and there were only a few customers downstairs, so if you are looking for some atmosphere, it might be better during the lunch hours of weekdays. Very affordable and staff friendly. If the location was more West End, I can imagine it being full every night.

It was fantastic. I chose the place for a first date and thought it was great. The staff were friendly and the food was delish, not to mention cheap.
It was quiet which allowed us to have a good chat, but still had atmosphere.
Would DEFINATLEY visit again.

Just been for lunch at Kurumaya with my girlfriend. Very impressed with the quality of the food and the atmosphere in the restaurant.
We started with some Ngiri sushi. The Saba (mackeral) tasted as good as (if not better than) the sushi that I have eaten during my trips to Japan. The tempura was equally good.
I recommend that you reserve the Japanese tables when booking - they are the kind that allow you to sit properly (useful for us inflexible westerners).

Great Place. Food very good (good Japanese food being a rare in London and being fussy after having lived in Japan). Sushi excellent, exceeds that of other better known places. The decor is simple and stylish (also kind of rare for cheap Japanese in London). You can kick off your shoes and sit on the tatami. Go there!

I am a fan of japanese food and kurumaya is definitely one of the best jap restaurants in the city. atmostphere is great, food's delicious, and service is friendly albeit slow during lunch hour. great alternative for lunch to city-workers!
