Kurumaya

Excellent sushi and sashimi. You can stand and wait for the conveyor belt (traditional conveyor belt fare but very popular) on the ground floor or book a table on the lower ground for a la carte. Kurumaya, as other reviews have pointed out, is HUGELY popular at lunchtimes during the week. If you want to sit at the conveyor you'll need to get there at noon. A better time to go is in the evenings when it is easy to get a table downstairs without booking.
The sashimi platter is deliciously fresh and their hand rolls are excellent. The hot dishes are great too - particularly the eel, pork belly and soft shell crab. One of my favourite places to eat sushi in London. Not cheap but certainly not expensive for what you get.

Sadly I was introduced to Sushi for the first time here. Unfortunatly that means everything else is DOWNHILL. The soft shell crab is my favourite but generally this is amazing and I am hooked. It does get busy but can understand why. IT is not cheap but who wants cheap sushi !!!

Just one comment to add - although I love this place for its food and value for money, it is mad at lunchtime. Fridays are especially bad - we recently had to wait 40 minutes for food (including one mistaken order).

This place is just the nuts!
Used to dine at K10 all the time - until a friend lured me to this heaven.
Sashimi is brilliant, dumplings brilliant, but the best thing is that they will make you anything, beautifully and without any fuss.
Get involved with the soft shelled crab
End it all with Chocolate Mousse and Green tea!
Perfect!

Great meal, food was very fresh, although there was a misunderstanding about what we ordered. They coudnt believe we wanted to order a dish that wasnt on the menu, and apologised for having to charge us .. very sweet.

Having come back from a stint in Tokyo I was desperate to find quality sushi in the City. After an exhaustive hunt I have to say that Kurumaya is the only place that comes close to the quality, freshness and pride in food that Tokyo outlets offer. Forget Yo! and co, the chef here understands what it takes to make great sushi. Go downstairs to the tatami matting if you prefer a traditional feel.
