There is nothing special about this place and it is more expensive than nearby Turkish and Kurdish restaurants. Over rated, overpriced. Grilled meat is grilled meat and vegetarian main dishes are not even edible. Unfriendly waiting staff. Dalston has cheaper and better Turkish/Kurdish restaurants.

something about a place where when you walk in you can smell the charcoal. The food is great, try the grilled aubergine salad.

Hunky turkish waiters, warm but relaxed atmosphere, and the best Iskender I've had in London. What more could you ask for.

This was one of the best Turkish restaurant we have been to. We, a party of 14, visited on a Friday evening about 20.30, knowing that it would be busy but only waited about 5 mins for a table. The waiters were superb. Our meal was really tasty - the meat dishes were amazing , a large and fresh mixed salad, with plenty of bread. Definately one of the best in London.

I find it hard to believe that I was at the same Mangal 2 as some of the other reviewers. It was simply the best Turkish restaurant I have been to. We visited on a Tuesday evening about 18.30, and it was pretty much empty. But over the course of our meal the place filled up and it was no surprise as to why. Our meal was really tasty - the yoghurt chicken breast dish (forgotten the name) was to die for and with plenty of bread, a large and fresh mixed salad, and a portion of chips (not on the menu but the waiters were happy to accomodate my English tastebuds), we were more than stuffed upon leaving. Service was accomodating yet unobtrusive and we had a laugh with the waiters. Definately one of the best in London - my Uzbek partner agrees!

i dont know what is all that fuss about this place!! first thing first, i will never ever trust English food taste. I am english myself, and hands on my heart, i must declare, we know NOTHING about food and taste!! Mangal2 tastes as good as wetherspoon grill... it is basically meat in good portion, served in salad. no aroma, no spice, and that makes it a NO kebab. try testy down the road in Stokey, ten thousand times better. Mangal is only honest in price and size, not in taste. I will never step into this over hyped english grill. i would rather go to a local pub and ask them to serve me some over roasted meat. if you want "kebab" try others, certainly not mangal.

Really not that good. came all the way from north west London as a result of reading various 'amazing' and 'awesome' reports here.

Have to say it was a wasted trip. Yes the food looks/tastes ok but there are many grills like this in the neighborhood that are more authentic. you will wait for the privilege to eat and wait and then wait some more... distinctly average with utterly poor service. I would only recommend locals use this place. At least that way you wont get home at 12pm hungry!

And God forbid you ask when you will be served, especially after waiting an hour for your order. you have been warned, on your head be it!

Cheese and Biscuits - 7/10

Tuesday, August 03, 2010 - Sucuk, Turkish beef sausages, looked like something out of a tin from the 1950s but tasted lovely - spicy and dense and with a good texture of real beef that belied their processed appearance; a plate of six chicken wings were crispy from the grill, moist inside and with a subtle piquant marinade; and a few slices of halloumi were nicely browned and served with a couple of good crispy pickles.
