Reds Bar and Grill (Wimbledon)

I have always enjoyed coming to Reds, celebrated my birthday there before and even left a raving review about it on this site. But I hadn’t been back to the restaurant in a while and during a recent visit was appalled at what I found on my return.
We waited an hour and a half for four burgers and when they finally arrived all of them, including a chicken burger, were completely undercooked and raw.
When we complained to the manager about this he responded in an incredibly rude way, telling us we were wrong about the meat being undercooked and that because we were sitting outside, we couldn’t see the food properly due to poor lighting.
Needless to say it’s not that difficult to tell an uncooked chicken breast from a cooked one and the health implications of eating raw chicken should be apparent to anyone working in hospitality. The manager’s behaviour and reaction was simply out of order and the concept of the customer always being right clearly isn’t upheld at Reds.
All in all an unbelievable experience that has put all of us off ever visiting Reds again.

Bizarre but I too was ripped off to the same tune for a large glass of lime and soda. I also think prices for many of the drinks are a bit rich. The food is okay but hardly anything special. Wimbledon is getting better by the day so they had better pull their socks up!

The food has always been ok - good range of lunchtime snacks etc but the service is appalling! Every time I have visited the staff grudgingly show you to a table then vanish, reluctantly appearing to see if you want anything after 15 minutes or so. Last time we visited, they charged over £3.40 for a pint of Soda Water with lime cordial - when questioned about this, their initial explanation was that ' lime is expensive' soon switching to ' it's the soda water that's so expensive'. Can't quite understand this as many places don't charge for soda water or if they are using ' expensive small bottles' they warn you before they rip you off. Won't be returning!

Red's is a reliable neighborhood restaurant that we visit 2-3 times a month. Relaxed atmostphere, friendly, and one can usually get a table even on a Friday or Saturday. The food is excellent - if you like meat, which fortunately I do! Juicy, delectable burgers (try the stilton or mushroom), thick steaks, and some of the best baby back ribs I have found in the London area (and I've looked - hard!) Good range of wines and beers. The prices are very reasonable, and the service is friendly, accurate and prompt. Their only weak point? Dessert - a bit uninspired - although my wife likes the strawberry sponge pudding, so maybe it's just me.

Food generally good, place gets a bit smokey now and then from the kitchen (plus the smokers). Reasonable prices.
One major gripe, at the weekend, in the mornings, the place becomes dangerously crowded by prams blocking up the aisles and fire exits.
