By far the best Fish and Chip shop in London and indeed it rightfully won that very title last year. The standard NEVER slips and I always have a wonderful meal. The atmosphere is always homely and the staff treat you like family and with a smile. If you want fish and chips, don't look further than the legendary Toffs of Muswell Hill!

Had 'open' plaice & chips from here last weekend & thoroughly enjoyed it, along with the walk to Ally Pally. The fish & chips in Toffs are on a par with anything found in Whitby. Restaurant area was full, nice healthy queue for take-away, yet the staff were all attentive. Top marks.

I not sure if it was THE best cod&chips I've had, but it was certainly up among them. The cod seemed very fresh (soggy as some put it) and very good, and the batter felt crisp and light. All in all, a very good and generous fish&chips.
We took some starters and was impressed both with the fish cakes and soup; especially the latter had a really rustic natural taste which for me was sublime!
Although the shop does feel a itlle cramped, I found the service very satisfactory. It's not so gentle as the pace in the shop is mesmerizing, but the staff work with perfect timing like clockwork but never forget to touch base with their tables - very good indeed.
I would definitely visit again.

Wasnt particually impressed. Cod in batter was soggy and slimey, grilled sea bass wasnt bad but wasnt great either, haddock in batter tasted the same as the cod. i have had better fish in restaurants that dont primarily serve fish and there are definatly better fish restaurants in and around london than here. Wasnt overly impressed with the chips either - they were a bit soggy too. Friendly service and not expensive but still nevetheless not all its cracked up to be. maybe we just went on a bad day.

Toff is the best. I have eaten in this superb fish restauant several times now and each time enjoyed excellent food and value for money.
Our last meal was last Tuesday and the rock salmon was cooked to prefection, my partner and here sister both had cod. We all agreed it the best fish and chips we have had.
Just pefect before going on the see the UK Hall of Fame at Ally Pally.

Toffs used to be excellent. However standards are continually on the slide. I ordered one cod and one haddock plus a large portion of chips. The chips were nice but a little greasy. The fish however was woeful. I suspect it had been cooked quite a time previous to my order as the fish was dry and the batter stodgy and tasteless. I thought it may have been just a blip but I'll stick to two brothers in Finchley from now though it means a longer drive.

Quite simply, the best fish and chip shop in the world! Brothers George & Costa work tirelessly to make every customer welcome and feel like a VIP. Every single one of the staff are helpful and attentive. The quality of the food is superb, particularly the grilled fish and the chips are perfect. If you have any room then the home made sweets are amazing. Try the Creme Caramel - Mouthwatering! I've tried the rest - Toffs is definitely the best!

We ate twice at Toff's while on a two week stay in Muswell Hill. The reputation
that Toffs is the best fish and chip shop around is fully earned. The daily queues for take away meals that stretches out of the place into the street is the best evidence.
We had the fried plaice and chips. Next time we're in town I want to try one of the broiled offerings.

No question about it, this is a friendly place to eat. The staff are great and they try really hard. It’s nearly always busy and there is a good positive ‘buzz’ about the atmosphere. There is however a but and for me it’s a big but, what with me being a regular eater of fish. The fish dishes, although beautifully cooked are in a word, bland. There is little other than the shape to differentiate between the cod, the halibut or the plaice. This has happened on 3 successive occasions. A pity really. So nearly right in every respect bar this. I’ll give them a try again later in the year.

i was trained as a silver service waitress, we where taught to smile, give good service, make the customer feel they are special, make conversation, and when a client is alone make them feel they are not on there own, well all of these things above, are all part of Toffs, but most important the food is out of this world, and the prices are not only for the rich but for the every day person in the street, there kindness also extends to the homeless with a freebie bag of chips.i eat 3/4 times aweek at Toffs.
