I had dinner at Stef's on a busy wednesday night and the quality of the food was excellent and the service could not have been better. The only thing they could have improved was the Cafe Latte; but overall I was very impressed and will certainly be returning. The staff were very friendly.

I ate here last week and despite some of the excellent reviews, my opinion is that this restaurant is pretty average. It's very similar to most Italian chain restaurants. Certainly doesn't deserve a place in the top ten!
The food was o.k. but I think that there are much better Italian restaurants in London with much better quality of food and service.
However, if you need a break from christmas shopping and fancy an average meal which is not too expensive then it's worth a try.

This restaurant is a gem. We booked a table for four to celebrate my wife's birthday. The restaurant was buzzing on a Tusday night in November and our meals were delicious. Perhaps the best thing is the way the staff are attentive polite and friendly. They were outstanding and I would have no hesitation recommending it to others.

Four of us went to Stef's on Saturday night, I felt responsible for our 2 friends as I had made the booking based on previous reviews so was a bit concened to see a bad review pop up just before we were due to go. I need not have worried, the food was delicious and the atmosphere lively. I had the seafood risotto which was heavenly and the Lemon dessert bomb thing was divine. All washed down with a glass of Prosecco on arrival and a superb bottle of Montepulciano at a very reasonable price.
A good time was had by all and as I saw some lovely things arriving on other peoples tables, next time I am up in town I think I will just have to go back and try sample something else off the menu. Cant wait.

What a truly delightful venue this is - and how nice to find it staffed by 'genuine' Italians!! The service was excellent and the food a real delight. The decor and ambience are very pleasing - I particularly enjoyed the selection of photographs on the walls. A fine and not overpriced selection of wines and even an Averna was available at the end of the meal - still a rare find in London! We were made to feel tremendously welcome and I can assure you we will be back - a 10 on all counts.

In recent months, I must have become one of Stef’s most regular customers. His staff are always friendly, polite and attentive. I have taken many business colleagues to Stef’s as well as friends and family and have often been complimented on my choice of venue.
Why do I go to Stef’s so frequently when there are many other eateries in the vicinity? Stef is a wonderful host. The first time I visited his restaurant he came and introduced himself, asked my name, and ever since has greeted me by name. He still remembers the first main course I ordered, the lasagne. Go on try it, its wonderful. The atmosphere, whilst often busy, is always convivial and this must stem from the approach of Stef and his staff. The food is always very good, and his specials are just that, invariably that bit different and often with an interesting twist.
With the combination of free Wi-Fi access (just ask Steff for the code) relaxed atmosphere, excellent food and wine at reasonable prices and charming host, why go anywhere else when near Oxford Street?

I tried it ,waste of time and money, may be ok for tourists.
Seems like the owner is in the restaurant most of the time, but what about the lack of professionnalism from the rest of the waiters.
The wording of the menu sound italien, but the food got no personnality.
For 95£ for two I expect a bit of quality, specialy now there is hundred of restaurants in town include michelin star who got great special offert around 20£ for 3 courses.!!!
I think it is better value to try one of these than a trap for tourist next to oxford street.

Went to Stef's last night, with the words of the previous reviewee ringing in my ears. Clearly they had an off night, because we had a wonderful meal.
Stef himself welcomed us at the door, and conducted things superbly. He is an excellent host, and found plenty fo time to chat, including a discussion about the previous review!
The meal was far from bland, tasty throughout, and they were very sympathetic to my wife's nut allergy.
Looking forward to coming back when next in town.

I looked at London Eating list for the top tens..I'm getting around or have tried most of them....some more than once as the food and service was excellent and the value for money was very good.
I tried Stef's last week and it was the worse dining experience I've had in a very long time! Yes,it was a Friday at 830PM and the place was totally packed. We had asked for a good table when the booking was made...a small corner table at the back was available...so far so good...only to find out that they gave us a table right next to a rather loud table of 15...we asked to be moved. There was another table being cleared and we just waited...no offer to bring us the menu or the wine list though.
We were asked if we had a internet booking/special offer....we didn't ,the reservation was made via the phone. Does it make any difference how we made the reservation...maybe they feared a bad review...well their fear was well founded...as the food and service was awful!
We had calamari, four cheese gnocci which tasted so bland we didn't finish it. I had the prawn and lemon risotto and the lemon was so overpowering that it runied the dish. My partner had the veal, that was probably their only saving grace as it was good although a very small portion for a main. They served some drab vegetables on the side which we just left. We didn't have desserts / just an overpriced bill for "suave" service, horrible atmosphere and terrible food!

Six of us went to Stef's on Saturday night. Having read the reviews we expected a good evening and we weren't disappointed. Staff were friendly and helpful, food and wine were both very good. We will definitely return.
