We visited for the first time on a Saturday early evening for a pre-theatre dinner. We explained when we arrived we needed fairly quick service and we were very efficiently and pleasantly dealt with throughout our meal, leaving in good time to get to our show.
Two of us had a pasta special and two of us ordered from the a la carte. all of the food was of excellent quality, arrived all together and was piping hot - delicious!
We all agreed the restaurant has a smart yet relaxed feel and is in a very handy location for enjoying the west end and surrounding district.
Despite being on a tight schedule we still had time for the owner Stef to come across and entertain us with a few jokes before we left. This was a nice touch and made us feel like regulars already.
We will definately go back to Stef's and would not hesitate in recommending the place. It is relaxed yet sophisticated and we noticed how clean everything was - too often rare in London these days.

I have eaten at Stefs many times and have never had either poor food or poor service, dont get me wrong service isnt silver, but its very Italian, polite, friendly and good humourd. Nothing has ever been a problem, even when one of my teenagers change their mind after all the orders have been taken.
The food is a good and varied selection of Italian fare, all well cooked and well presented, its NOT all Pizza and Pasta like most Italian Restaurants.
Stef himself is a friendly "member of the family" type, who has always seemed to me driven to have a successfull restaurant by having a good restaurant, not famous or expensive but good!
I write this review now as last Saturday he organised a fabulously enjoyable party for 22 of us for my fiances birthday, they entertained our guests prior to our "surprise" arrival, wined, and fed us and having organised everything else even organised for me the most chocolatey of birthday cakes from a local patisserie.
I cannot thank him and his staff enough and sincerely hope that this review bring them more business and success, if in the restaurant game Excellent Food, Excellent Service and Great friendliness are enough he will be a very successful man.

Excellent food, Stefs always aim to please, service is great and Stefano adds the personal touch by meeting and greeting his customers however to add to the already brilliant experience I would recommend they grate the parmesan cheese on to dishes in front of you as opposed to it being pre gated.

my wife treats me to a meal at stefs for a treat whenever we are in london, this has happened for the last ten years, a bit boring you may say, but when the quality of the food is as good as stefs you cant help but go back for more each time. i have never yet in 10 years had a bad meal, not many restaurants can say that.
the staff are amazing attentive and very friendly, the food is always brilliant and the location is perfect,
i have recommended stefs to all my friends and they have tried it and now also go back whenever they are in london.
BRILLIANT RESTAURANT

Stef's is a really friendly restaurant on Fitzrovia serving some excellent Italian food and wine. I have never ordered anything and regretted it. The staff are friendly and Stef is always around chatting to his guests and making them feel welcome. The prices are good for the quality and quantity of food and the interior is comfortable and contemporary.

Booked a table for 10 on a Saturday evening and it was perfectly set up when we got there. Our waiter "Ross", an Italian, was extremely friendly and professional, paying a special attention to our table as it was a crowded one.
The restaurant has daily specials advertised on a wall board, for a bargain (£12-15). I started with a daily soup (beetroot) which was phenomenal, and I ordered the "ink tagliolini with fresh clam and lobster sauce" (daily special) which was brilliant, and both in generous quantity!
Overall, 6 of the 10 people ordered starters, as for mains there were a few pizzas, pastas and daily specials. We had about a dozen beers and 2 bottles of Nero d'Avola red wine, and 3 desserts. Final bill: £30 per person, including service! Unbelievable but true, for an Italian restaurant in the heart of London and with such good authentic food.
Pros: authentic Italian food, very generous quantities, excellent value, daily dishes, staff, good for large gathering
Cons: location? (not easy to park)

The food at lunch today was excellent and efficiently served - insalata tricolore is not difficult to make but requires the best bufala, avocado and tomatoes and ours was; our calamari fritti was also delicious and just the right texture. The deserts were splendid - creme brulee was spot on, and the (recommended) panna cotta with mango sauce was a revelation.
Our waiter was a typical London Italian who made us feel entirely welcome without pressing us to order in a hurry.
I've been to Stef's once before, and intend to visit again - many times.

STEFS!!!! To me, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in London. I had a birthday meal with my friends last week and we were very impressed with the quality of food. The staff were really friendly and warming, the general atmosphere was great and was very good value for money. I highly recommend this place! :-)

I have just been there along with other thirteen friends. It was the worst service I have in years.
We arrived at the restaurant at 21:30 on a Saturday and the restaurant was half empty. Nonetheless, the waiter kept rushing us asking again and again what drinks we were having and bothering the people who order tap water trying to force them to order something else. Instants after the drinks arrive, and with people paying attention to the menu they started taking orders. My friends started feeling unconfortable, so I spoke up and asked them if they were about to close or something. They reply that they weren't and I asked why they were rushing us. Far from apologising, the waiter continue asking for the food and in a sarcasting tone asked me whether I have had time already (2 minutes later). At that moment, I called the manager and ask them how they could allow a waiter to mock in that way a customer and told him that he won't be getting any service.
I couldn't believe my ears when I heard his answer, he said 'you would pay the service because you have to', and I said 'i don't have to as you say in the menu and according to the British law the service is optional' and he said that it was his restaurant and that inside of it he was the law.
Unbelievable, we stayed because we were too many but would never go back.
