Day of the Raj

The day of the Raj has always been a favourite restaraunt of mine. I have encouraged friends, boyfriends and families to eat here as the food is so delicious and the hospitality is so welcoming. I know Day of the Raj since I was in primary school as they used to cater the Indian food on my mum's stall at the school fair's. Even then, everyone used to go nuts over the food!! tTen yearsdown the line and I am still a loyal fan of the restaraunt.
Despite the breaks and periods of reburbishment, the food has remained top-notch; and with the added pleasure of Romel's presence, there isnt a better Indian restaraunt to eat in in the whole of North West London.

Had stopped going here because the food had become bland and samey but decided to give it another try after our local shut down and it was greatly improved and up to the standards it used to have.
Service was welcoming and friendly. Food was hot, tasty and well cooked. The bill at the end was very reasonable.
Glad it's back to standard.

Friendly staff, greeted on our arival. Decor bland but comfotable seating. Food matched decor, very bland and one dish the food was hot underneath but cold on top inspite of being told to watch out as dish was hot. Good place to introduce novice to Indian food. Used to be much better a few years ago.
Prices average.

we have been to the Day of the Raj twice now and the food is the best Indian food we have ever had and we eat indian food every week, there were six of us and we were all of the same opinion. the foods has loads of flavour but doesn't burn your mouth like a lot of food does, also the waiters are very friendly and look after you very well. its a shame we live in Northumberland or we would be there every week but we will definately go the next time we are visiting family in Finchley.

After eating at the famous day of the raj and then speaking to Romel the owner i felt i had to right in to this site. Romel has been at the restaurant for over 14 years so he certainely knows his stuff, so to cut a long story short Romel was upset with some of the reviews he had read on the site. He pointed out 2 me that he had been away from the business for 2 years and while he was away the standards had slipt and the negative reviews were while he was away. My meal was excellent along with the service the decor does need a little updating which Romel will be updating in August. This was my first visit and i will definately be coming back. I found Romel to be an excellent host and will be definately recommending him and his restaurant to all my friends and family.

I went to this restaurant with a few friends, to celebrate my birthday. Although the service was ok, the food was quite unremarkable. My friends really enjoyed the onion bhajees. We had a lot of fun, and joked and laughed about old times. Dom didn't really join in too much as he's always been quite quiet.

5 Words, IT'S THE BEST INDIAN IN LONDON. Certainly the most delicious Indian food I've come across. Love the mild dishes.

The spiciest experience of dining here was the fact that they had the audacity to charge us for the experience. The food was bland to say the least. I can assume only that they have a regular clientele of children whose palates are too delicate for the spices of the sub-continent. I would have felt quite content ordering my dish if I knew that it would have tasted like a casserole instead of a curry. As sweet as all the dishes were, the whole evening left a rather bitter taste.
