I was very very disappointed with the food service and atmosphere more so because I took my working colleagues to show them how "wonderful" we are.

After a long journey to get to what I thought would be a 'home cooking' well it was not worth the trouble. I am not an excellent cook, but I would have done better.

I am writing in response to what a certain person claimed that mauritius bar was a disappointment. Well i have been to that nite and what he wrote is pure nonsense. That nite was awesome, i have been going to mauritius bar for a long time and i think that nite was one of the best ever. i tried many mauritian resto but none was as brilliant as mauritius bar. The food was excellent , rajiv's cooking was @ its best. me and my friends have various types of dishes and all of them were brilliant. Each and everytime we went to mauritius bar,we felt like being in mauritius itself, the staff have excellent customer service and the atmosphere is as always perfect. I was born and raise in mauritius and i personally know that mauritius bar has always provided the atmosphere of being in mauritius. If u know how mauritian enjoy themself, then you would surely go there. There are various nationalities enjoying the service. i would advise all mauritians in uk,if u want to enjoy the best mauritian meal,

COME AND PARTY @ MAURITIUS BAR.

i am of mauritian origin and was so happy to have found a mauritian restaurant through google search. it took me 2 hrs and 30 mins to get there and was expecting delicious sea food and typical mauritian delicatessen but was seriously disappointed!! it was so overpriced adult £15 per head and kids £10 per head! can you imagine??

anyway all it was a small dark restaurant and as food some samosa, spring roll, codfish and rice. no tiger prawn sautee or any sea food as stated on their website.....very dispointing. as for entertainment it was few girls dancing sega!!... which i found very obscene and embarrassing in front of my kids. anyway I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MAURITIAN BAR TO ANYONE.

personally i think that mauritius bar and restaurant has brought a lot to the mauritian community i think that it has brought a lot of mauritian people together i have made a lot of friends since i started going there i think that the food is marvelous and that the atmophere is brilliant.... there are plenty of exiting Mauritian dishes and European dishes on the menu. Above all Mauritius is a Multicultural Island where people learn, work, eat and have fun together. check it out you won't regret it's cool like being on holiday. You can always have a drink on the bar or on the veranda and sample a few bar snacks

I live in Nobury and have eaten here on a number of occasions. When it first opened the menu was quite exciting and everything was tasty, I have no doubt that the chef is a good cook and knows plenty about mauritian food. Recently however, the food has become increasingly westernised/boring/slightly odd in nature - nothing was unpleasant and the portions are very generous but the quality of the food and the menu has definitely dropped and i think the prices have increased but it is still good value, especially when they have an offer on, which i know they often do. Similarly the way the restaurant is decorated has changed, becoming increasingly gaudier, possibly to go along with elvis/karaoke themed nights.

The service definitely is friendly and if karaoke/elvis or just having a very non pretentious night out is your thing then this restaurant is fine, especially considering the limited options available in Norbury - this is probably the only seafood restaurant. I only wish that the restaurant would go back to its original interesting menu.

I went to the Mauritius bar & restaurant two weeks ago for my boyfriend's birthday, and we had such a great time!

Although at the time the restaurant wasn't extremely busy there was such a great atmosphere with sega music, Rajiv and his wife are really lovely people, very welcoming & friendly.

The food was brilliant, we ate loads and it felt just like being back home. There's also a nice bar area where you can chill out after the meal. . .

We strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We'll definitely visit again.. and again. Regards to everyone at the mauritius bar and thank you :-)

We ate at the Mauritius bar last Saturday for the first time and were very well received by Rajiv and his team that we went three times in the past week. Mange mari bon! Flavours that you would only find with a true Mauritian mother's cooking wow. Our favourites: boulette de possion, bouillon crabe, mine frire, the roughailles, the curries, we love it all! Black Eagle Beer, Green Island Rum topo:) And We can't wait to go to one of their sega parties. Keep up the good work Rajiv!!! Bigup zot tou dans la cuisine! Clarel & Debora

The hospitality in the restaurant is very welcoming.

The restaurant is always full and the atmosphere is party like and warm.I have eaten in there a few times and ssem to keep going back for more. The food is always fresh and full of flavour.

I would really recommend the Chichen and mushroom strogenoff and the prawns these are my favourite. There will be more interesting curries for me to try in the summer as i have been told by the owners.

No matter what i ask for they will always go out of their way to provide it for me....i would highly recommend going there for a evening packed full of excellent food and great company.

I've been meaning to write this for ages but it's difficult finding the time when I'm not in this brilliant place!

Can't praise highly enough the quality of food (ESPECIALLY the fish dishes), menu, service and general care I have always received in Mauritius Bar.

Whether you just want a 'winding-down' drink after work or a full-blown special night out this is the place to go!

Rajiv is a chef in a million - always surprising us and genuinely caring. His wife is charmingly friendly as are all the other staff. It is definitely the place to relax in, have a drink, munch away and as a bonus watch football! - as I do most weekends!

Thanks guys and keep up the good work!

From a very satisfied local
