I've been to this restaurant & I can't agree more with the positive reviews. The food is absolutely fantastic, a far cry from other Indian restaurants that I've been. Has anyone tried the "Mango Meen" & Apam, it's a great combination. Don't miss the next time you visit Sadya. Also the starters were delicious & in the right proportion. They don't over do it. The staff are ever so polite & always obliging, very professional. Sometimes it takes a while for some dishes to be served as they are freshly prepared & you can smell the freshness of the herbs & spices. This restaurant is a real winner but I think it needs more publicity as it's hidden away in Balham. Prices are just right. Good for parties too. Next weekend try Sadya & you will not be disappointed.

Sadya is a great South Indian restaurant. The food is fantastic and we are always helped by the friendly staff with the menu as it's sometimes hard to choose from all the lovely different dishes. We went there last Friday and had a wonderful meal, the staff ensured that we had a great dining experience.
I agree with previous reviews, unfortunately the decor isn't a 10 out of 10 but the food and value for money makes up for that.

The food here is amazing value. It's fresh and every dish was flavoured beautifully. The staff are friendly and don't mind explaining dishes. I would definitely recommend this place. Just remember it is no frills when it comes to the decor... certainly makes up for it with the food!

Don't agree with previous negative opinions - I ate in Sadya last week - I really really like this place. I tried Rasam soup - WOW! lemony-chilli-herby - a bit like tom yam soup - it was DELICIOUS, made to order and only £2.75! My sister had the Kadal seafood soup - another winner.
Our seafood mains were really good too, and with paratha and rice, more than we could finish. We took the remainer home and it did for next night's dinner too! Service has improved with enthusiastic, interested and friendly staff. Great meal at the great price only £44 for 2 people inc 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 rice, paratha, a bottle of good pinot grigio and even service too. Well done. Highly recommended.

Dosas were cold, crab curry made with soft shell crab (eek!) , and the place was completely empty on a Wednesday night at 8pm. However, the owner and his son-in-law were hospitable and the payasam was freshly made that day (or so I was told). Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but this will do for a local.

The word "gem" has been used, and that is exactly what it is. Charming staff, very welcoming atmosphere. The South Indian (Kerala) dishes are sublime - you must try Ulli Theyal and Mango Pachadi. This restaurant is equal, and even superior to, any restaurant in Tooting. Very reasonable, you can take your own wine. Highly recommended

Nice little restuarant that's very different from the standard Indian especially as it's South Indian cuisine. VERY obliging staff, will get you whatever you want and the owner can't do enough for you.
Food is quite good - you are given a range of hotness - always opt for the hottest if you ask me ;-)
Lovely place and even my wife loved the food when she's not really that keen on spicy food. Will definitely go there again!
This little gem is ideal for a meal on a budget and for close friends - decor is newly done, however not to everyone's taste, but it doesn't matter when the food is this good.

Sadya is a South Indian restaurant in Balham specialising in food from the state of Kerala. Very different from Northern Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi food. Food is delicious and service charming if a bit erratic. I recommend it however if you want fresh tasty South Indian food at very reasonable prices. Currently a secret in Balham but deserves more attention.
