I was taken to Aubaine by a friend on Fri tonight. I like the deco and location but I do agree with most of the reviews below that the service was very poor! My friend is French, so he was speaking to the manager in French, but the manager was kind of ignoring me when I speak English to him!!!

I had scallops which I must say they were quite delicious but 4 scallops cost 20 pounds was just a rip off... My friend had some kind of fish and we had a starter to share, plus 2 glasses of wine and deserts, the bill came out almost 90 pounds. I've seriously had better than this...

Don't think I'll be going back there again!

I was very impressed by Aubaine and will definitely be going back there. Went there on a Saturday morning for brunch (around 1130) and ordered the bread basket with various preserves and a couple of open sandwiches. Service was relaxed (but then so were we!)... we sat outside (the location was great and so was the people watching) and when it started raining, they extended the awnings and kept us bone dry! Great coffee, great ambience. Service is definitely on the slow side, but this is somewhere you go for a couple of hours on a lazy morning / afternoon not an express dinner. Might be a good idea to make reservations. Didnt think it was super expensive or anything, but again, dont go here if you expect to spend a fiver...

We were invited back to Aubaine after complaining in writing. I can confirm that it was worse that last time we went. It was for breakfast and nothing came on time and eventually my poached eggs were stone cold, the excuse was that we should not have ordered dishes at the same time? The woman who is front of house is frankly scary and the manager didn't even look at us when we explained the situation and walked away. We are used to parisians as we visit every year but you Aubaine has all the attitude and none of the excellent service.

I went here tonight and I must say it was ABSOLUTELY rubbish.

The man in charge who served us needs to go and learn some manners. I get more response from my cat than I got from him - now thats saying something. I am disgusted at the level of service in this place.

I ordered the pasta of the day - half cooked cold raveoli, which I think is still cooking in my stomach at present. My friend ordered corn fed lemon chicken - something we could have gotten from Nandos for 1/3 of the price and with more taste. The food was bland, tasteless and ridiculously expensive for what it was.

I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to get ripped off. Dont get taken in by the fancy decor or expensive prices, its just not worth it.

I thought this restaurant was terrible, and bad value. The staff did not get our drinks order correct to start with. We ordered fillet steak, salad and chips. The steak arrived stone cold, we had to ask twice for mustard, and the vegetables arrived as we were finishing the steak. For £19.50 a total rip off. Wont be going there again!!!!

I absolutely agree with the disappointed customers...the guy in charge is extremely rude, lucking any manners whatsoever, a behaviour much inherited by the service staff. The food was ok but nowhere close to the price charged.

I ordered a cappucino and a tart tattin. The coffee was indifferent, the tart absolutely tiny but tasty. The bill - £8.50! And they had added service on unrequested. The owner was rude when I told him what I thought of his poor fare and value. He responded rudely by saying: "Well, if you can't afford it............." Dear oh dear, the customer obviously comes last in his book.

I visited Aubaine for lunch today and ordered a ‘medium’ steak, it was £19 and came with sauce and a few cooked cherry tomatoes. My understanding of medium is well cooked on the outside and pink in the middle, but not raw (I checked online and I am correct thinking this) and I can’t eat raw meat as I am pregnant.

So my steak arrives and I cut a quarter way into it and see blood oozing out and the thing is completely raw inside – so I send it back. It’s returned to me 5 mins later and I cut through it – totally raw inside again. So I send it back again – and the same steak returns, in the two pieces, completely charred on the outside, finally just pink on the inside but of course dry as a bone, tasteless and ugly from being cooked in this manner. I eat a bit and ask for the bill. The waitress asks me what it was like and I explain it was awful - she just looks at me. Bill arrives with service added, no apologies offered.

Appalling from a restaurant charging these prices, I won’t be going back and I recommend you don’t waste your money on these charlatans. Oh and my comment to the chef – you should look into jobs at Kraft, the dog food division.

Went Saturday 4pm for Lunch, Absolutely starving and it was hard to find somewhere still serving Food!

Totally surprised when we went in as the decor was really relaxed & casual. Waiters were gorgeous...dont know what the other reviewers complained about..and the waitress that served us was fine...

The real surprise was the food, very light touch.. I had way too much bread, & for a main course I had the monkfish which was really delicious in the most delicate sauce...and if you want to have a proper meal at all hours this is a great place to go, very casual with a mixture of people....I actually was not

wowed by the cakes...maybe all the good ones had sold out...but they are no comparison to Maison Blanc or Patisserie Valerie down the road.

Definitely recommend this place for a quick, casual, delicious meal
