Thai Square (Windsor)

My husband and I ate at the Thai Square yesterday - a Friday night, but early. The service was friendly and prompt, though not rushed as suggested by other reviewers. The food was excellent, though portions were not particularly large. The atmosphere was a little lacking, but this was largely due to the hour and resulting lack of diners early on. By 8pm it was filling rapidly and seemed very popular. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Windsor.

On arrival I stood in the greeting area for > 5mins waiting. I was subsequently ignored by the waiter who began speaking to some other lady behind me. I probably didn't fit the bill! I give the service NIL (too many people not enough staff). Food was terrible and overpriced.

I went to Thai Square last Saturday with a friend, whom I hadn't seen in a while and we were looking forward to a relaxed evening catching up. It was obvious from the start that waitresses wanted us in and out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. We hadn't even taken our jackets off, when we were already asked what drinks we wanted. When the waitress brought the drinks, she wanted to know what starters we wanted. Even though we hadn't made up our minds, she impatiently waited until we gave her our order. My friend was still chewing when the starter plates got whisked away and replaced by our main course. At this point we complained - we couldn't relax - it was all so rushed!! What a pity, it's a lovely looking restaurant, but the rushed service makes for a less than pleasant experience. I will certainly give Thai Square Windsor a miss in the future.

I went to this restaurant for my birthday. The food was all right. I ordered Masaman with lamb. First, it arrived with chicken and I told the staff to change it because I ordered with lamb. No question asked, they changed it and it arrived promptly. Having been to Blue Elephant, I was able to tell the difference between this one and the other one. The one from Thai Square was lighter in colour. The one from Blue Elephant was darker but more delicious. Indeed, Blue Elephant charged the price double (£14), but I got the feeling of never-ending supply of lamb. While Thai Square provided scanty supply of lamb. I noticed Thai Square chopped potatoes in chunky portions. A bit dodgy to fill up the bowl.

Being Asian myself, I felt the service was not consisted of Asian values. I was polite the whole evening. However, the staff rarely offered a smile. I even helped clear off the table, but only "thank you" came out (no smile). They smiled only when they welcomed me to the venue when I came through the front door.

I ordered orange juice which was a bit salty. I asked to replace it. It came again with the same taste. My advice: don't order orange juice. Tasted very strange.

Relaxed atmosphere.

Conclusion: Would I come again? No, thank you very much.

My boyfriend and I went to Thai Square and loved everything about it.

The reason why we did not give 10/10 on service was because the waitress did not serve us with a smile and also because we were presented with the bill without having to ask for it. This made us feel like they wanted us to leave and it was not that late .....food is fab, will definetely go back.
