Star of India

I would whole-heartedly recommend the Star of India. The authenticity of the dishes is second to none, no dyes to enhance colours; you have an experience that relies on the natural ingredients to provide the taste, very refreshing.
The staff are attentive, and many charming, doing their best to accommodate specific requirements.
I have been several times, and ordered take out from here, all the dishes were freshly prepared and cooked and still delivered with 40 minutes. A most enjoyable experience.

My wife and i visited the star of india last night, simply because we were so hungry and really fancied a curry. We usually visit our regular curry house in whitechapel (La Hore) And i must say this; The Star of of India is completely overpriced for the portions that they lay upon you. We were in actual fact gobsmacked that they even charged us for the mango chutney with our spiced papadoms, and the papadoms were wafer thin and tastless.
The Madras meal was delicious in fact, but consider that you cannot share, as there really isn't enough in one dish for two.
I found the waiters walking around mostly looking to take away the very first empty dish availalble on the table (very annoying indeed) Also i never found them particularly friendly but never do in any indian restaraunt; hence (No tip)
Overall i will not return to the Star of India.... But La Hore is simply in a class of its own.
