Cannot understand the critical comments. On our first visit (we sat in the atmospheric upstairs tented room), we received friendly service and flavorful starters and mains -- better than some of the food I've had in Morocco. No liquor license means you can bring your own and keep the costs down. Would definitely return, especially because of its proximity to Leicester Square, a dining wasteland.

Came down here on a Sunday when it wasn't so busy, but had to wait at least 30 minutes for our order to arrive and when it did the food was tasteless. We would not be coming here again. The menu list is limited and the food overpriced considering the quality. I am not too familiar with North African cuisine but find this insults their food.

This is frankly an insult to North African/Moroccan food. I am myself Moroccan and I have never had such a disgusting tagine. I also tasted my husband couscous and was surprised he was able to eat it. The mezze were mediocre, overpriced. I have just read comments from other complaining that the portions were small: given the quality of the food, I would consider it the only advantage of this restaurant.

just visited here for lunch and can honestly say I am very excited to have found it. The portions are huge and such good value. I had the delicious hummos and pitta (£3.50) which was enough for 2, followed by Chicken Cous Cous. This comprised of a huge bowl of cous cous, a bowl of delicious tomato and vegetable stew, 1 large marinated chicken breast - beat that for a fiver in London. And the cocktails are incredible. Perfect lunch venue and I would def come here in the evening now.

One of the worst places in London to eat. The portions were really small, the waitress rather unfriendly and 10% service charge added on top of already expensive meal. Altogether a completely ruined birhday!

When we visited on a Saturday night, the restaurant was very busy. However, the staff were unfriendly and there was only one waitress serving the entire basement floor which had around 50+ people.
The food tasted good but way too overpriced for the small portions that were delivered.

On Staurday night we came here as a party of four, sat in the cosy den of a basement and found ourselves to be the only people there...........
Strange really given the great experience we had at Saharaween. The decor is pretty much spot on with just the right amount of Moroccan theme items, low cushioned seating and atmospheric lighting. The menu is limited in spectrum but the food is of a high quality and excellent value. Vegetable mezze starter was more like Pitta with various dips, but boy were they good dips! The seating arrangment means that this place is more suitable for more informal shared eating, but none the less the mains of tagine and cous cous with kebab were very good.
We finished dinner with a sisha and it all came to £20 a head including a generous tip. And the reason or the low cost of it all........ Bring Your Own Bottle!!!
I love unliscenced restaurants, especially ones with no corking fee! We only bought a bottle of still water.
Upon leaving we found that there were in fact more customers sat upstairs. I recommened you visit, the more people the more buzzing the atmosphere.
Overall....Had a great time... thanks!
