Quite simply, Chutney Raj is the worst restaurant I have ever dined at!

We moved into a new flat and thought we'd try out our local Indian restaurant. There was a group of 4 of us. There was no-one else at the restaurant at the time.

We were ushered into the restaurant by a waiter when we checked to see it was still open. Three members of the party ordered their own dish and sides. I asked to share mine with another member of the party. The waiter pointed to the small print at the bottom of the menu and said I had to order a main course with 2 sides for myself or leave. I wasn't particularly hungry and so our party got ready to leave but then the waiter changed his mind and agreed to let me share.

He took the rest of the order with a fowl face and very rudely! The beer we ordered was dumped on the table so it splashed everywhere.

The food came. I am Indian and can usually eat very spicy food. As I was sharing I had ordered a mild curry. The curry was hotter than any vindaloo I have ever eaten in my life. I think this was intentional as a group of 4 waiters stood and stared and laughed at us as they watched me and my friend eat.

The serving dishes of food were taken away before any of the party and finished eating so they couldn't take a second helping. We weren't asked.

At the end of the meal our plates were cleared and the bill immediately dumped on our desk by the grumpiest waiter I have ever seen!

Never again!!

The owner was so rude, doesn't know what is the service. Food was ok, but we will never go back there again.

Food is average at best , they also do things in their own little special way that no one else does, like for example no puri bread with chicken chat or aloo chat.

I used to be a regular customer , now i am angry i ever gave them my custom.

I made a complaint that the lamb rogon was too spicy , the manager will do anything in his power to ignore complaints-- i will never go there again

One other silly thing , the manager feels it is a great idea that we all watch him do prayers ( in the middle of the restaurant!) -- its tiny as it is , i dont mind religion but in the middle of everyone eating.??!

I really hope they fail as a business because it looks like they dont have a clue about customer services. Mr manager -- you may have made money for one day and got away with it -- but it wont last with customer service like this-- i will be giving my custom to Gandhi which 1 min down the road and much more customer freindly.

The food was nice, but the service wasn't.

I took a group of about 15 people from work here. We wanted this to be a cheap and cheerful meal, so we all ordered our own individual dishes. But the waiter kept on bringing more dishes than we had asked for, e.g. extra vegetable side dishes and various kinds of naan. I complained and his claim was that someone on the other side of the table asked for a vegetable side dish and he took the liberty of bringing various vegetable side dishes for the whole table. The same with naan bread. Someone asked for one portion of naan bread and he decided the whole table wanted it. We complained and at the end he struck off two vegetable dishes off the bill, but it came in much much higher than we wanted and there was so much food left over. We felt like the waiter was trying his luck.

It was such a shame, because the food was actually quite good and priced reasonably, but things like this can really ruin the atmosphere and the experience. So, if you go with a large group, make sure you keep an eye on what's coming on to the table.

Surprisingly good. Went there for lunch on a day of doom at our company and was quite impressed. It was authentic and fresh and very spicey! reasonable price too.
