your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne

Styish decor, stylish bar, stylish menu! I walk past every day on my way to work but always thought its looked a bit pricey as it looks so swish from the outside.

Decided to give it a go after seeing their £8 Express Lunch offer and it was superb - the staff are really friendly, the food and service was great , I could not fault it and would highly recommend.

Dear Readers,

I usually hang around here to meet my partner, Jeff.

He loves the place and can not get enough of the Salmon which I hand feed him.

Agreed we are not the only "same sex" couple that visit the place but it must be said we get treated like royalty. Its a great place to meet people and make new friends as Jeff is my only friend its a refereshing enviorment.

You Sincerely

Sam Roper

Beckenham

So refreshing to have such a classy place so close to home. I saw a poor review but on closer inspection it was dated in 2006 and since then it has changed ownership adn had a major revamp in March 2007. The new place looks and feels as if you are in a exclusive West End VIP cocktail bar and has the clientele to match. I went there on a night out with my friends last Saturday and the place was filled with really a nice crowd plus a some premiership footballers! We booked a table in the new lounge, had a couple of the superb sharing platters with a few rounds of cocktails and a bottle of champagne. We all agreed the service was so attentive and friendly you could not fault it. Drinks were a little bit pricey but well worth it to be in such exclusive surroundings.

Definitely gonna make it a regular night out

I was so pleased to hear that friendsof mine had reopened after being shut due to a fire.

I went there on Saturday night ( 7th April ) with a small group of friends. The place looks amazing .. it was great before but they really have done a great job !

We were seated in the new lounge area ( very exclusive !!). The menu was made up of sharing platters and tapas style bites. This worked very well with the bar and lounge layout... we ordered two platters to start with..an Asian platter and a meat platter both were presented and tasted fantastic ... after an hour or so of drinking we ordered some extra bites ...coconut King Prawns and a chicken satay..this was the good thing about a informal style menu ...we could pick at our own pace and enjoy food and wine as we pleased.

There was a very select crowd in on Saturday ( lots of bling !! ) all in all a fantastic night in a great atmosphere which you would not normally get outside of the west end !

we will be making this a regular treat !

I have been to Friends of Mine on a number of occasions both for lunch and in the evening and i certainly dont have any complaints. The decor of the venue is funky with a real touch of class. The staff are friendly, the food is great. The atmosphere is perfect. The weekends are fun and lively and lunch is more of a relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking for a fun night out with lots of friendly faces around Friends of Mine is the place to be.

We dined on Saturday 8th April, we love to eat out but don't often get the chance so for our 4th anniversary we thought we'd try somewhere new having looked at their menu on the website we chose Friends of Mine and can honestly say encountered the worst restaurant experience we've had.

We were not offered a drink when we were seated, although a table who arrived after us were offered and served a drinks before we were even asked. We were sat, even though we had booked in advance, in the thoroughfare to the toilets, unfortunately we didn't realise this when we arrived.

Anyway the menu looked good so when our order was finally taken we looked forward to our food. Our starters arrived again after the table who had ordered after us and were a huge dissapointment..my tomato, mozzarella and pesto turned out to be a ring of unripened tomatoes (cold) with a lump of mozzarella (melted) and a sprinkling of pesto (crusty) served on a burning hot plate, not what I had been expecting at all. As for my husbands classic prawn cocktail...a mountain of shredded iceberg, approximately 6 small prawns and a dollop of marie rose sauce hardly a premium starter.

The evening did not improve more waiting, luke warm main courses. We cut our losses, got the bill at which point we were finally asked if everything was OK. Normally we do the polite thing nod, say fine and leave but this was too much so I calmly listed our complaints. There was a brief apology but no attempt to turn the situation around... no offer of a drink, complimentary dessert or money off, we were just told that next time we come it would be different!! NEXT TIME I don't think so. It seems that a beautiful venue has allowed its restaurant to become second fiddle to its bar.

We actually completed our evening at another restaurant for dessert, coffees and liqueurs!

I have been to Friends of Mine quite a few times for lunch on the weekend and our first visit we were thoroughly impressed finally a decent place to eat and relax in Beckenham. The quality of the food was good and the service ok if not a little slow. On subsequent occasions the food qality was sub standard and not worth the prices they are charging. When restaurants that do well cut costs on quality so soon after opening I find it an insult and will not be going there again.

Having been to friends of mine, only twice- i feel perhaps i do not have enough information deemed fit for a review. However what i have experienced there, is fantastic service, the staff were very assisting and friendly. The food was gorgeous and atmosphere was very nice. The furnishings and overall look of Friends of Mine is modern, relaxed and funky. A delightful place to visit for special occasions and/ or lunch
