Took my wife for our wedding aniv. Firstly, let me say that the food is simply fantastic. The pan-asian menu suited me as I love that type of food but I have to say I have never tasted better. Worth the asking price alone. The setting is also unusual. Although I let my wife face the room, I could appreciate the juxtaposition of far-eastern culture meeting formal western court-room. It doesn't always work but I think they have carried it off well, especially as the ambience and low-lit room has an overall soothing and quality feel about it. Bill came to around £85 for 2, from a set menu , 2 glasses of wine, water and coffee. Highly recommended for a special occasion.

I must say I love this restaurant, I came with friends from the USA and it must be one of the best restaurants I have eating in.

The food was just unbelieveable and the staff were so friendly. I have booked my Birthday dinner at the Silk. This restaurant is a must

I saw good reviews of the Silk Restaurant and decided to take my wife, and for sure we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the staff were welcoming. We both felt happy and relaxed throughout. The place in itself is excellent, set in the former courtroom with the enlightened Buddha statues behind the judges bench.

The Manager welcomed us and then explained about the restaurant and the Silk route, something very interesting. He also suggested about the sharing starters which we agreed to. That is something which we will definitely recommend everyone to try. All in all a great experience. Will definitely be going back.

Wonderful place!! Food was amazingly great and so was the service. The staff really cares for you, very attentive but not intrusive. Wine list is good with a varied selection of wines. Should not be missed.

I live in the US and went to Silk on holiday and could more highly recommend this restaurant. I have eaten at my share of nice restaurants - anyone who knows the US - I live in Chicago and we have great dining but SILK is in a class of its own. Reasonable prices and exceptional everything else.

Having been looking forward to visiting Silk for my birthday I was very disappointed when I actually went on Saturday. The courtroom venue is stunning if a little uncomfortable (we were on wooden benches). However our group was quickly put under pressure by our waiter who started his welcome speech by saying that the men who visit the restaurant usually have steak. He then tried too hard to push the steak dish (the most expensive on the menu) onto the two men in our group. The pushiness continued when he dismissed our deliberations over side dishes by saying he would choose the shared starters and sides himself (we declined). But by far the worst thing was that we took up his recommendation for sharing starters. There were six of us and the waiter’s proposal for three shared dishes seemed reasonable as the starters come in two sizes – small at about £4 a dish and regular at around £10. We reasonably assumed we were therefore sharing three dishes at £10 each yet when the bill came they had charged us £72 for the starters - £12 per person. Rather than sharing we had all apparently had three starters each. When we questioned this with the staff they were at first quite argumentative but after making the point that having three starters each is not ‘sharing’ in any way they did agree to take the price down. Be warned – this is a money making ruse if ever there was one!

The food itself was very good when it came – we had to wait a long time for both the starters and the main course, the bread arrived when we were well into the mains and one side dish was forgotten and had to be hastily brought from the kitchen. This was particularly disappointing as there were only three or four other tables occupied and an abundance of staff.

The wine was excellent and the cocktails in the hotel bar outside were fabulous. We might have caught them on an off night, but the service and general atmosphere at Silk means no matter how tasty the food I will definitely not be returning.

I saw this restaurant on the website and I have heard good things about it. So I took my wife and we had great night. We were served by a gent called Paolo, which a lot about wines and the waiting staff were welcoming. The food was fit for a king and the setting was great, set in a old court room and good back ground music (Buddha Lounge & Cafe Oriental, we asked the Manager Ray about the Music) and up lights give you that chill out feeling.

I think I found a restaurant which will stand the test of time, I will be planning my Managers dinner here. The food is done in away that it is not very rich but just want to have more.

Silk is a lovely place for Dinner. Me and my wife had gone there to celebrate the Valentines and we were not disappointed at all. £75.00 was a very reasonable price for the package which also included a movie(love actually).Starter was great and so were the main course and the desserts. The best part was the Service which was great and the team members were so attentive and most friendly at all times. Wine complimented the food really well. Many thanks to the Kitchen team and the service staff for handling the celebrations so well. WELL DONE.

A superb venue!!! Me and my friends had a great time. Menu was great and so was the ambience. Food is a lovely fusion of thai and indian food. Service was exceptionally well. The Head waiter presented the menu in a wonderful fashion and explained us about the sharing concept, which we willingly agreed to. We were served a combination of four different starters on our platters, something very unique. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Good food marked with a superb service makes this place a great venue. We highly recommend it.

I had an omen of bad things to come when after booking I was unable to get any replies to the emails I sent asking a couple of questions. I booked through this site for the Valentines day deal which combined an all inclusive meal with a romantic film showing in the attached hotels private cinema for £150 for two.

Having not been to this restaurant before I wasn't sure what to expect but the reviews here were great and the photos made it look intimate and romantic.

You enter through the hotel lobby, which is not impressive. The restaurant itself is unconventional though, being an old court. It is only small with wood panelling and a very high ceiling, slightly let down by the decor. We had booked for the first sitting at 7pm and were the first to arrive. We were given a choice of four tables nearest the door but after sitting down my partner was feeling cold from the draught coming in the door (flickering candles and moving flower arrangements added to the wind tunnel ambience!) I say candles - they were actually metal painted white to look a bit like a candle with a gas supply to save them the obviously laborious job of replacing them. They shut the door for us to try to reduce the draught but refused to move us to a table laid for three in a more sheltered position saying that it was booked.

We were brought a bottle of water (£5.50) and a little glass of spicey 'amuse bouche' which was tasty. The valentines menu was brought in a presentation case. It did however feel more cheesy than romantic. My partner was still feeling cold so we asked if we could possibly be moved further away from the door - ideally to a three person table on the raised area where the 'candles' seemed to be flickering less furiously. Again they refused with the ready booked excuse but they did say they would turn the heating up.

The champagne was brought (I was served before my partner) and while waiting for the starter gave up on suffering the gale and called the manager saying that we really did need to move. My partner was wearing her full length coat by this stage. He allowed us to move to the raised table almost immediately which was a definite improvement although both of us had to contend with straddling a table leg.

The food started well with interesting crab cake with avocado surrounded by soup for my partner and mozarella and avocodo surrounded by soup for me. Not very asian but tasty nonetheless.

While waiting for the second course we were put off by the loud piped dance music (Kylie, Rachel Stevens, Beyonce) which seemed somewhat out of keeping with the romantic theme of what we had paid for. It wasn't helped by the waiter who kept displaying his dance moves and singing along to the tracks while standing about 4 feet from us. I wanted to say something but was restrained by my partner as she was feeling that we had made enough fuss already and we should just laugh at the situation, thumbprints on cuttlery and dodgy tablecloth, rather than trying to resurrect any romance from it!

The remainder of the food was very nicely presented with some interesting tastes amongst it. I enjoyed most of it although definitely nothing to write home about. My partner didn't enjoy the mix of cuisines and neither of us finished everything (very unusual for us).

By the time the dessert came we were just ready to leave and the surly nature of a couple of the waiters together with the musical accompaniment had almost certainly affected how we viewed the food.

The final bill came to £175.50 - and that was with no extra wine. We gave the film a miss (they considered 'The Wedding Crashers' a suitably romantic valentine days film) and went home with a decidedly bitter taste in our mouth. it wasn't helped when we looked on this site and realised that a meal at Gordon Ramsays would not have been a lot more!

Unfortunately what I had hoped would be a romantic and special evening turned into the worst dining experience I have had. I have never left a review on here before but we felt we owed it to anyone assessing this place for a romantic meal.

If it had been half this price, and the music, waiter and draught hadn't been a problem then this would have made for a reasonable night out.

Oh - and the supposed trio who had booked the table never appeared - the restaurant remained less than a quarter full the whole time we were there.
